What to do in Cali? - one week vacation!

Sorry for the random post.

My fiancee and I (my parents will be in tow in the beginning of the trip) are taking a vacation from Chicago/Madison and are going to Cali in early October for my cousin's wedding in Fremont/Oakland/San Francisco area.

We're not on a huge budget so just curious to ask any guys who live around that area if there is anything good to do such as places to eat, sight-see, etc... so something decently priced is a-okay!!

I've gone there a few times but it was quite a few years ago and honestly do not remember too much, so anything reasonable or logically presented would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

*Mods may move this to the appropriate place such as local forums if they feel it needs to apply*

since you're in the bay area, you can do a lot of sight seeing in san francisco. i used to live out near sacramento so i used to go up to the city a lot. the main tourist-y things to do in san francisco are:

- fisherman's wharf (eat their seafood and clam chowder in a bread bowl)
- pier 39 (which is pretty much right next to fisherman's wharf)
- alcatraz is viewable from pier 39 area. there's even a boat you can take to tour around the island
- ghiradelli square to get their awesome sundae
- palace of fine arts
- you can check out berkeley campus because they have a great hole-in-the-wall hot dog place called 'top dog'. so many different types of sausages there!
- MOMA (museum of modern arts), i think entrance is free on tuesday or some random weekday
- union square area for some shopping?
-napa valley if you're willing to drive more
- golden gate bridge and golden gate park
- bay bridge, you'll pass this for sure if you're going to berkeley
- you can catch oakland a's or san francisco giants baseball game

ok, that's all i can think of for now. you can always search online for more tourist stuff. have fun in the best state!

either area NorCal or SoCal. The SF mall is a pretty nice mall to visit. You might also want to check out Haite? street if im correct. And Berkeley nowadays is ALL college students which i myself will probably be heading up there soon to visit some Berkeley heads. But if you come down to SoCali also you wont be disappointed have fun out here. Its a great state to be in
