I'm goin, goin to....Cali (So Cal area)
So i'll be flying into Cali next week 7/13 LAX and will be there that week. This is the First time ever going to Cali I've always wanted to go but didn't have the opportunity and I hear of good things in cali aside from the Cost $$$$ & the communist cops......
fortunately I will not be taking the G but that also means i'll need to rent-a-car and they're making me pay extra (X2 the going rate) because i'm not over 25 years of age yet...
Which would lead to my first question...
1. Would anyone out there know of a good deal on renting a car in Cali. or maybe works for a rental co.? - I kept searching online but couldn't find any killer deals- all the coupon codes I could find still ended up being too costly. So far the best rates I could come up with were Hotwire or priceline but the age restriction is still killing me.
Don't mean to sound like a tourist but those of you who reside in the So Cal area, living there now, if you were a first time visitor - where would you want to go or see?
So far I have....
Hollywood & West Hollywood
Universal Studios
Beverly Hills - Rodeo Drive
Downtown L.A. (Day time)
China Town L.A.
Korea Town
Sony Pictures Studios
Mulholland Drive + Cruise through Santa Monica mts. -San Fernando Valley
And of course all the beaches (Malibu, Venice, Santa Monica, and Long Beach, etc.)
Thanks to the sticky I know where to eat...https://g35driver.com/forums/souther...cal.html...but , so that is covered
2. Can anyone recommend any other place worth going?
If I have time and if I can do so I may tour some of the performance shops in the area (Greddy-in Irvine, SPE, etc.)...
I have already booked my hotel in Pasadena

btw...I was originally going to fly into San Fransisco (SFO) and take the 5 hrs. to drive down to L.A. but due to time constraints and cost I'm not able to do that even though I was offered a few nights complementary stay....
edit: O just found this thread...https://g35driver.com/forums/travel/...isit-cali.html
So I guess if anyone else has any info to add regarding visiting Cali please do...

Awesome. I'm also going to the laugh factory are you going to the Hollywood or Long Beach club?
I also really want to go to the ESPY awards but don't know if I have to do something at that time I already voted for the ESPYS....
And i'm going to Knot's berry farm in place of 6 flags for an amusement park since i've been to 6 flags b4...its going to be quite a packed trip.

With my luck that almost always never works out for me....the last thing I want to do is get there and they not have the car I want because I didn't make a reservation and then have them try and sell me a bigger more expensive car that I dont need...I'd like to atleast see how much of a deal I can get before I make the final decision. And from my experience they dont really like to deal OTC really anyway...

I thought it was gonna be perfect out there like 70 degrees??...Oh well i'm already used to the summer 100+ degree heat so I shouldn't have a problem...
Sidestep is the same as hotwire, priceline, expedia and is just a search engine that mass searches those sites to find prices....there are a bunch of bad reviews saying not to buy from hotwire, or priceline since they can screw you over so i'll just probably end up making my reservation sometime this week...

Don't hit up west hollywood unless you like your same sex.
Down Town L.A. is cool at night, lots of bars.
Huntington beach is cool.
Zuma is nice too just north of malibu.
universal studios is very touristy (i guess you'll fit), go to magic mountain for more rides more fun
Old town Pasadena is nice, closest spot to where you will be staying.
check out the griffin observatory
+ what you mentioned.
