In LA i suggest you have some Korean BBQ, there are some bomb places in Korea Town. My favorite is Oo Kook http://www.oo-kookbbq.com/ , its $25 pp all you can eat. Most all-you-can-eat places skimp on quality but not this one! (im going there tomorrow hehe)

If youre in the mood for sushi and rolls i suggest Boss Sushi http://www.bosssushi.com/, great quality fish and some really good rolls.

My favorite Japanese BBQ is Gyu Kaku http://www.gyu-kaku.com/ , also bomb meat and quality.

As far as things to see...You will get to see the 405 freeway...sooo much joy at 5pm lol.
At night check out Santa Monica pier and 3rd Street Promenade. Its a long walkway with bunch of stores and some entertainment.

Griffith Observatory like someone mentioned, might be better at night so you can see some stars.

But what ever happens during your trip..make SURE to go to In-n-Out burger...you will not regret it!
This video speaks for itself:

Yes.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/oo-kook-korean-bbq-los-angeles

From my lifetime of eating KBBQ, this is the best Ive come across in restaurant form. Great meat quality, spacious, clean and the service is fantastic.

The only downers to this place:

- Valet only and no real street parking options
- They get packed and start turning away customers at like 8pm, so go early or call in and reserve
- The banchan (sidedishes) were just okay

Oo-Kook G35 meet?

Really?

Ahh fawck, that's one thing I hate about L.A. - PARKING! Damn that can be such a pain, especially if you drive a nice ride.

I'll keep this on my list and subscribe to this thread so I'll remember to check out this place next time I'm visiting my Pops. I used to live in K-town myself for 2 years, but my Dad has lived in the mid-city area, right off of Wilton separate from the Hancock Park area for decades. I'll check this out next time I'm there for sure.

God I love going to Puerto Nuevo for lobster. And in truth, the best places are the hole in the wall places, not the ones with the big luxurious looking ones, the one that look like an extension to some Grandma's kitchen. I have dine well many times there.

I have stayed loayl to numero 1. the one right on the left corner as you enter the village. the owner died a couple years ago but the quality is still the same.

^^^I haven't been to Rosarito much, but I'll keep that place in mind next time my family goes down there. I like buffets, but that's more of an American thing. I always end up over eating.

I go because of the variety, not the amount of food.

Try El Nido on the strip..good ambience and steaks are good...for B'fast try the Quail eggs and Venison.

Just to give up an update...

We've decided to not visit Yosemite, partially because it's out of the way and we'd prefer to spend more time on the PCH.

I've updated our mapquest trip.

http://mapq.st/juGHDS

We're currently planning the details and what to see... I'll update with a more detailed description for those who are also planning a California trip!

so no redwoods?

i'm plannin on doin basically the same thing in october, but i'm kinda debating if we should spend so much time on the road or if we should just do more of a start in SF and end in SD type thing over the course of 2 days.

we like "motoring" we just got back from a 3 hour session today, but it might be less relaxing when you are trying to cram all kinds of stuff into your drive.

i'm gonna start doing some homework on stuff this week. PM me or post on here if you get some good info.
