Thinking about moving to SOCAL - from MD

Whats up all! I'm going out to San Diego tomorrow to visit some long time friends and thoughts have been arising of me possibly moving out there. Currently I work as a Network Engineer for the Navy/Marines but want to get out of the enterprise IT contractor business and move into something smaller.

So I just thought I would post up here in hopes for some insight from locals (possibly someone in the IT field) about jobs and what are the "good" and "bad" areas regarding housing.

If you move to SoCal, be prepared for one of the most active car communities in the country.

Here's the local SD forum for meets, events and canyon runs.

it would be a nice place to live weather wise and the area plus the huge car scene w/ flat roads an all

only down fall is the road rules are different and laws on modified cars is different.... sniffer test, no dark tint ect

i would much rather live in the mid-cal area that way i can hit NorCal and SoCal with ease....... oh and vegas is a few hours away

or at least HFC with high enough CEL rating to pass.....

or maybe the locals have a way around it you can always ask what they do or who they go to for the sniffer test

A lot of us run ART pipes or conventional test pipes. There are people around that can help with the smog if needed.

Yeah SoCal is more hustle and bustle, NorCal is more of a relaxed environment. And our summers don't get nearly as hot up here lol.

The DC area has some BAD traffic, housing can be just as expensive and the tempo is also high. 2 different worlds. Just for the car scene alone, I'd take SoCal hands down.

To be honest, San Diego traffic isn't that bad compared to DC or LA or SF.
