Hi Bill, not sure about headers but the smog station I've always gone to tried to fail me because I didn't have a CARB sticker on my intake. Naturally, I put my OE cats back on other wise I would have failed for sure. CA and it's new STAR system is a major PIA! All you can do is try, roll in quietly with OE cats and see what happens. Friend of mine paid $500 to get his Ford Lightning truck smoged, STAR system has everyone scared.

I just got my car smog yesterday,it was really really hard. The only thing to do is to just get rid of the headers and go back to stock cats permanently.I can get headers install for 200 but that means 200 to take them off 200 to put them back on every two years could be a pain in the ***

Wow !Calif has some tough emissions testing! Im glad NJ isnt that tough. They check for cel if no lights plug into obd. They do look for cats. As long as you have them dont have to worry about exh system. They dont do a safety insp though which I think we should have! Some of the cars on the road now are very scary! You can hear the metal to metal scrubbing other brakes

My car failed pre inspection because my Wolf Pop Charger had a carb sticker on the heat shield but not on the filter. I put the OEM box back in with K&N filter and passed just fine. I have stock cats and Nismo exhaust.

I have to get smog test for registration, but luckily it doesn't have to be a STAR station this time.
Still gotta find a place that will swap out my HFCs for my oem cats at a reasonable price though.
Out here in Glendale if your not armenian your gonna get screwed on the price.

As long as the systems are in place you should pass. The car doesn't gain anything from a popcharger anyway, so a z-tube, k&n panel should pass no prob. I have MD spacer, z-tube, k&n, magnaflow, resonator delete, stock cats and pass with flying colors.

Would it be "Add 1st Chance Auto Repair & Tires" or "Car Zone Auto Repair" by chance?
People on the G/Z forums mentioned those as shops to check out in Van Nuys.

I know you have more options than you think and you don't have to be Armenian if you send me a private message I can give you more information.

Telling the tech doing the test that the CARB sticker was for the entire intake wouldn't have helped? My sticker isn't anywhere close to my intake, I put it close to the ID plate on the passenger side by the shock tower. Now I can wait 2 years to see if that was a good move or not.
