HELP!!! seriously... need help

guys i need help... here is what happened

friday night...11pm ... driving down azusa... saw ambulance 2 blocks behind me... so i was like ok if i stay in front of the ambulance i dont have to stop.

so i stepped on it 90+ down azusa ave... when i was passing merced ave 2 cop cars parked at the light waiting to turn green, my bro goes OH S H I T cops... i slam on my brakes make a right turn on the first lil street and pulled over and turned off my engine... before i can even open the door, 2 cop cars with lights all over me.

makes me get outta of the car ask me this and that... i was giving them a hard time, so he goes "if u didn't be a smart *** at the beginning and said sorry, i would've let you go, you think i care bout u speeding down my street? ur not harming anyone other then ur self" ... enough said.. i was thinking, even if i did apologize he would've given me a ticket...

so the f u c k e n cop walks to the other cop... i think its a 25156 25151 ... or watever... and the other cop goes yah i think soo too..
(they are so bored that they memorized the code of violations instead of saying illegal emissions and exhaust)

asks me do i have any mods ... trying to say cold air intake... but said cold suck something...

so asked me to pop the hood... telling me how my carbon fiber hood is illegal as well... i just looked at him and say wat? asked me how much was this and that ... telling me it'll be expensive to put this and that back to stock...

good thing he didnt see my headers...

so he writes me up for ILLEGAL EMISSIONS AND ILLEGAL EXHAUST

also has a sticker on the back... STATE REF SIGN OFF ONLY

now my questions is... WTF is that?
also the owner of the white sedan that works for west cov fire department... can you please help me out with this?

what is a state ref and does anybody got connections thru this?

I don't think anyone has connections at state ref. State ref is like an emission place that certifies if parts are legal for street use or not. IE if you get a legal motor swap and want it to be completely legal, you take it to the state ref after and they'll approve it if it is, etc.

Anyhow, your best bet might be to return it stock and take it to state ref to have it signed off. Treat it like a fix it ticket I guess.

It's also called a referee station. They only do smog and verify that you have the legal emissions to operate your car in the state of Cali. Damn dude if you took time to stop even for just a minute then none of this would have happened. You got your hand caught in the cookie jar now you have to pay the consequences for your actions. Somehow I don't feel sorry for what happened to you if any I think you got what you deserve. Regret always happens when it's all to late to do anything.

Maybe if you were not acting like such a PUNK, things would have turned out different.

Sounds to me like you were asking for it, they told you, and you asked for more!

Yes, there is a time and place to act up. When you've been pulled over by the cops is not one of them. Believe me, I've had plenty of tickets and I don't act like a ****head when dealing with the cops. They have the power to make things easy or really hard depending on how you act. If your cool and they are feeling o.k., then you get back on the road sooner and maybe without the ticket (I always got mine though). Or they drag it out and start picking on different things. Since you have to go to the Referee, your going to have to remove the headers any way. The Ref wont sign anything off until it looks just as it did when it drove off the dealership drive way.

Good Luck,

Ray

When you speed, you are not harming anyone but yourself?
Where is the logic in that?

You have noone to blame for this but yourself. The officers were doing their job. You are lucky you are not getting hit with speeding. If the officers had evidence to prove it, they would have given you a speeding ticket. But since they knew you were but could not prove it, they did whatever else they could. You gave them an excuse to want to do that.

As far as a State Ref inspection, put your stock engine parts back on and the ref should sign off on it. If you have an exhaust, it should be fine unless it is too loud, which a Ref should now be equpped to check. This is one of the consequences for running non-CARB certified parts. Best thing to do is try to stay off their radar. Going 90 down a street is not a great way to do that. And trying to keep in front of an ambulance is not a good reason to speed.

come to hawaii...u can get a "RECON" sticker that approves ur car's mods for daily use. can be a pain if u dont have the right paperwork: receipts, warrantees, etc...

but yeah man, when ur goin down the street at 90mph in front of an ambulance instead of stopping.....ur asking for it. Oh, and there's no way out of the state ref thing. my homeboy out there got one for his bimmer and we had to take it somewhere in baldwin park area....we started unbolting crap as soon as we'd gotten back to the house.

Other states papers don't mean anything because he lives in CA. They can say its legal in X state, but in CA, its not so it doesn't matter what another state says.

State Reff is not something you can pay for illegaly like smog or something. You have to return your car to stock and get it written off. There is no other way around it. Not just your intake, EVERYTHING.

hey danny, does the state ref like literally check the complete car as in lift the car up and look from the bottom, or do they just pop your hood and see what you have... i was thinking putting the stock intake back on and still leave the stillen exhaust on... also hoping that they wont realize headers... because its hard to see

you think that'll work?
