CHP ALL OVER the 5 fwy!!!

Geezzz!!! Yesterday on the news I saw that CHP is beefing up patrol on the 5 all up & down CA... it sucked because I planned to go to Sound Advice and hate driving slow (don't we all)... Anyway, they were right! from north OC to south OC I saw FOUR!!! Two of them had cars pulled over! It's not (or wasn't) uncommon to see zero on this drive!

I want the hell out of here! But where the hell would I go

Holly ****!!!! FIVE??? That's only a few miles!!! I mentioned it to my girlfriend to warn her - she said she already knew about it and heard it a while back. I thought it was a one-day thing (based on the news story). Is this indefinite? Or for a long duration?...

I know they are keeping several choppers in the sky looking for aggressive drivers because of the resent fwy shootings... I'm not going to shoot anyone (unless they shoot at me first), but if they are hell bent on revenue from speeding Im taking side streets.

^^^ no prob...

Brings up a good other topic (should start a different thread, but...)

G35frenzy had a good topic: How fast have you gone in your G?

Unfortunately I've only been able to reach 110 - In all my other cars I've been able to get to 120, there was always more left but even at 2:00am with no cars in sight by the time I reach 120 there would be traffic. Not bogged down traffic, but at that speed I dont take chances so I've always slowed 1/8-1/4 mile prior... These days I cant even find enough space to get to 120 before "obstacles"

I would love to finally break 120... I know, I know, there are tracks for this type of thing. Its a fun post though. So have fast have YOU gone?

I heard they were doing some sort of 0 tolerance speeding enforcement thing. My dad knows two people that got tickets for just going a couple miles over.

Not to get off on a rant here, but this is the exact BS that makes me want to say F-U to every highway patrol and fight all tickets no matter how blatently guilty I am. "Protect and Serve" my ***. There was no purpose to this but to make money.

I see people pulled over ALL the time as it is on the 5. I've been pulled over to, and I've seen people in the process of getting pulled over. If you're going 80+ then fine get a ticket. But getting fined for going 68 is utterly ridiculous.

I raced a GT on the 105 at about 2am and hit over 140. That was scary because it was so damm dark. I really wont do that again.

I hit over 140 also racing a Z on the way back from Vegas between Jean and State Line.

And I have a picture somewhere of my speedometer at 130.

I wouldn't be surprised if this no tolerance rule went into effect, states other than Cali practice it. Then again, there are a ****load of cars on the 5. CHP can't stop 'em all.

Yep Zero tolerance! The news report I mentioned interviewed a CHP officer and discussed the "myth" about being allowed 5 mph over posted limit - he said Nope! You are right about a-holes on the 5!

The 105 use to be wide open - but every time I'm on it these days it's bogged down (havent been on at 2am lately though)... Seems that no matter what fwy I'm on no matter what time, I'm lucky to have enough room to reach 100... Next trip to Vegas or towards the desert hopefully I can finally open it up!
