After playing around with different settings like THX723 suggested. I just found out that my second setting was the best for me. So now my soft setting at front and medium setting at the rear is the one I'm sticking with. It's a bit more forgiving not only to drive but for the car as well. It feels a bit more relaxed than tense it was a fun day driving yesterday. Ray when the hell is our next canyon run you said you'll set it up before you leave on your business trip?

 

What kind of Sway Bars do you have? How is the soft (f) & med (r) settings versus med & med settings? Ride? Control?

 

I have the Hotchkis sways. When I first installed it, it was at the stiffest setting both front and back. Man that was a big mistake the car left really stiff I didn't enjoy the ride at all. Then Clint (THX723) said try doing soft first and adjust accordingly he actually suggested soft front and medium rear. Which I did but I still played around with my setting. For about a year I have been messing around with the setup. So finally last weekend I put it back to soft front and medium rear and you can feel the difference immedietly. Tried all kinds of combo even putting soft in one side and medium on the other. Did the same in the rear and I still find the car fighting me in turns. Medium, medium setting is ok but for me it still pushes the car in turns (understeer). Yesterday I pushed my car in turns it felt more planted and for some reason the suspension was more forgiving in bumps. It like my car had a massage and all the tension in it'a muscles are gone. Can't explain it why it was like that but to me it just feels more relaxed. Whatever you guys do DO NOT put it at the stiffest setting the ride will kill you. Then again that's just my opinion. Some people may like that setting.

I'm glad you found your 'magic' setting ... which is not always the same for everyone.

i just wanted to ask a question. is it easy to change the settings on the sway bars? do you have to jack up the car every single time to change it or is there an easier way to do it?? i'm going to be buying the stillen sway bars because i read the hotchkis dont come with some "bushings" or something that the sitllens use the OEM ones. i'm going to try stiff rear and med front and if its easy to change settings then i'll play around with it. do you guys think i should go with stillen or hotchkis? those are my only two options i have in mind. any advice would be appreciated. thank you very much in advance.

 

The HS comes with all the hardware including the urethane bushings and grease fittings. With the SS everything is extra but it has the stopper on each side while the HS doesn't. A lot of people prefer SS because of this.

 

Yes after all this time I was playing around with my settings and finally settled for this one. Man it was eons ago that I asked you about this. LOL! Tell me more about this canyon run when is it? Don't make it next weekend because I won't be able to make it. Try the weekend after next I'll go with you don't have to twist my arm on that.

 

If I remeber correctly you had med, med settings that's what you decided on.

 

We did mine on soft and medium like I wanted. Glad you switched over and like it. I changed mine to stiff both front and rear and the car wouldn't stick in turns. Now that I've gone back and slapped on the Tein's, the car holds very nicely on the pavement.

 

Don't have a date yet ... just thinking out loud. I haven't the time to attack the crest since leaving JPL, convieniently located near the mouth of the Angeles Crest Hwy. At any rate, we should definitely arrange for a small group to do the FULL run.

 

do you have to jack up the car to change the settings on the sways? or is there a another way?
