Exclamation Thurs 8/18: Drag Racing with Team Transport @ Irwindale

Getting a group together to go drag racing at Irwindale (which is only a 1/8m track). $20 for driver/car and $10 for spectators (kids 6-12 $5)

Will meet at the Krispy Kreme at Puente Hills Mall (60 fwy exit south...near corner of Azusa and Colima, on Azusa) to caravan, or you can meet us at Irwindale.

The facility is located at 500 Speedway Drive at the 605 Freeway in nearby Irwindale. Fans arriving from the South need to take the Live Oak West off-ramp West one block back over the freeway to the main entrance. Arrivals from the north will exit to the west on Arrow Highway and then turn left at the second light (Live Oak) for a short half-block trip to the main gates.

430P caravan from Krispy Kreme
500p meet-up at Irwindale
530p--10p RACE!
11p Dinner at RH Garden?

I will PM my cell to anyone that posts up that they are going so we can coordinate.

Cheers, ted

How many runs do you think we can get in Ted?... Shouldn't be too crowded on a Thurs night right? I might be interested... Are there any specific regs we need to be aware of? I got TT email, but couldn’t view info on the website (since I'm not a true member). Do you still have a spare helmet?

David & Klumz... you got PM

Mike.. you always get more runs at LACR (8-15!) Irwindale, you never know. More oilers, as well as local garbage running since its less of a drive.

Eddie: come to the dark side

Not really. No helmet or special equip is required. If this were LACR, I would say drinking water (at least 2 -3 litres) and a sandwich or some munchies.

Oh, and a bunch of excuses as to why your ET is sucking

and pointers? what RPM to launch at, how to get a good launch(drop the clutch, or slowly catch then drop, or slowly release, etc).

all i know is that if your tires are not gripping and are just slipping, dont continue on because you may just spin out and total your car. better to release gas a bit to get some traction and then gun it again.

Well, I run an AT, so it has the bad problem of slushing at launch with a hi rev. So I launch VDC off, no burnout, with only a feathered throttle/couple hundred RPM. Need some tranny work to get more agressive on launches with the 5AT.

yeah i have the 5at and it had a ****ty takeoff until i got the stillen valvebody upgrade this greatly improves 1-2 2-3 3-4. most noticable jump was from 1-2.

Had a good time last night at LACR! Thanks for the pointers at the track!

basically, their setup is this: you pay, get checked out, then get in line. in line, we can find each other and chat, etc.
