Two f-ing window tint tickets

So about a month ago, I got cited for my front windows being tinted. It was late at night, in a not so great area. It was clear by the questions the officer was asking me that he only used the window tint as an excuse to stop me and conduct further investigation. Frankly, I think he must have confused me for another similiar looking car that had been in the area. He did not know anything about the car and listed the model as "skyline". I was soon on my way with a fix it ticket for the tint. I got an extension until October 11th.

So this morning, I am almost to work. I am near the 110 going southbound on the 101. I see a CHP B&W trying to pull onto the 101. Speed limit here is 55, but it is safe to drive 60 so I am doing so. I start to merge to the right to get off at my Los Angeles St exit. The CHP car pulls right on my tail. I am not thinking anything of it...Im guessing he needs to get off too. Halfway up the LA St. offramp, he lights me up. I pull over. He tells me he stopped me for window tint. I immediately tell him that I already have been cited for that. He asks if I have the citation. I tell him no. He says he has no way to confirm it. I leave my work ID out in plain view on my passenger seat. The CHP patrolman could care less. He cites me.

WTF is going on? I have had tinted front windows on my cars for 8 years. I was never stopped once for the tints until last month. Guess CHP needs some money really bad.

That blows bro.

You're probably being targetted because you're driving an "asian racer" car.

How dark are your tints anyway? Are they limo tints?

it sucks that you got cited twice for the same violation, but we're all know that tinting front windows is illegal in CA....so i guess we're all just asking for it..

One step below limo tint. You cannot see in my car at night.

Going to Van Nuys Courthouse from downtown and then returning dowtown this morning, I saw a TON of CHP cruisers. At least 6 each way on the 101 between the 110 and Universal City. Obviously some sort of targeted crackdown is going on. I have no idea why since people on that freeway are ussually too scared to drive more than 35 mph.

its not illegal to tint your fronts...they just have to let in 70% of the light...which is pretty much having no tint.

yup which is what I'm looking to get all around. I just want the UV rays blocked from my daughter's skin. MAYBE i'll get darker for the rear but personally i like to keep everything uniform.

Ok my question is, if you get a ticket for your tint, can you just pay the fine and keep the tint? Or do they have to see your car and make sure you've removed it? Flippin A, if I lived in Cali I'd have to drive with the windows down 24/7 the way I have them tinted now...

have to get them removed, and its only in Los Angeles County where they enforce this law, OC could care less!

Some people say you get Fix-It tickets where you have to show proof that you have fixed them before you are able to pay, but where I went (west palm) and asked my tint installer what the process was (one of the installers had limo on his CRX and I was told he was caught 3 times so far so he must know the process), I was told that you get the ticket and you just pay for it, but if you dont show proof, they dont remove the "fault" in your record which means that when some cop runs your license plate #, he/she will see that you "possibly" still have illegal tint.

I might be wrong, but that is what I was told.

Oh really? I had no idea. I very rarely see CHP anyway. I do most of my driving on the 10, 60, and 57. I have been pulled over a few times by local cops but they never say anything about my tint.
