I was ticketed by LAPD and CHP

The point Kia was trying to make is that the corrective measure you must take in regards to your fix it ticket varies by county in California. In Los Angeles county, you must get the tint removed. There is no option to simply pay a fine.

actually i meant the tint law itself, i ahve never been bothered by tint in orange county, but very often in LA...

as far as the corrective measure goes, whenever/ wherever u get a ticket for tint, it must be removed

nope. you don't 'have' to get them removed. I think the first offense is a 'fix' ticket and it's no longer a fix ticket thereafter. but even if it is a fix ticket, you still have a choice to either, a) fix it and pay $10 or b) keep the tint and pay something like $70-$75 fine.

i never got pulled over in LA county for having front tints, but always got pulled over in FREAKING Irvine. Irvine PDs got nothing better to do.

You know, if the officer wrote the ticket up and put your car down as a Skyline, fight it. There is no such thing as an Inifiniti Skyline, let alone a Nissan one, or any other kind of Skyline in the U.S. with the exception of those "legalized" pieces of crap. Technically, the officer is should have copied the info from your registration card directly.
All you need to do to fight a ticket like that is take your registration with you to the court date. Cases of all kinds and extremes are tossed everyday because of details like this. Any kind of discrepancy what so ever on a ticket is grounds to dismiss. MIsspelled name, DOB, address, anything, if they put you as a female, when you are a male (it happened to me once, LMAO), discrepancy on license numbers, anything, go to the court.
L.A., Irvine, whatever. The worst cops to deal with in Socal are Torrance PD. They are notorious for pulling over people for "Driving While Being Asian." And other crimes.
Also, if you got a second ticket for the same thing within a certain time, you might try talking to the judge and request one be tossed. Explain that you didn't have the time to remove from the time you got the first ticket, until you got the second one. What I would have done was shown the first ticket to the second dick and told him some bull****.
Be careful in Beverly Hills late at night as well. I got popped for my tint out there. Funny thing was, he didn't tell me to fix it, he said just get it signed off. Hehehe, which little did he know, I did. It's good to have friends who're cops!
