Traffic violation question.

So, I'm just cruising at like 30mph on a local street in Del Mar today, and I come to a stop at a stop sign. I stop, and then as I leave the intersection, a bored-a$$ cop comes out of hiding and pulls me over. He comes up and tells me that I have to stop BEFORE the line. So, I guess I made a stop, but the front of my car was over the white line. Sigh. The violation he wrote me up for was: 22450(a) Stop Signal Limit Line. I look this up, and all I find is this:

22450. (a) The driver of any vehicle approaching a stop sign at the entrance to, or within, an intersection, or railroad grade crossing shall stop at a limit line, if marked, otherwise before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection.

If there is no limit line or crosswalk, the driver shall stop at the entrance to the intersecting roadway or railroad grade crossing.

So, does anyone know if they differentiate between this and simply running a stop sign? Is it the same violation or is it different? I can go to traffic school so I don't get a point on my record, but I just don't want to end up with a huge *** fine because they assumed I ran a stop sign.

I swear there are some bored-a$$ cops down here. Last year I came back to a parking lot at a train station and found a ticket for no front license plate. I looked around and there were at least 10 other tickets on other cars. Are they so bored that they hang out in parking lots and write up violations for parked vehicles?

your fine wont be that big, just take online traffic school bc the insurance rates would be a lot higher than the fine itself

That's not running a stop sign.. it's as they say, not stopping before the limit line. the idea is, you stopped, but you could hit a pedestrian because you didn't stop soon enough, or with enough space between you and the intersection/cross walk.

That's the only one I missed on my driver's test and have never forgotten it!

F cops. those d!cks probably never had friends in HS and always got picked on and had to resort to becoming a cop.
they give some stupid AS$ tickets for the littlest things.
once i was coming out from a court paying for a ticket, and when i got to my car, i saw a ticket on my windshield for mislocation of a front license plate.

I cant see any judge not reducing that to a parking ticket or some other non-moving violation. I would just bring that to court. Dont even worry about a lawyer. Worst thing that can happen is that you get the full fine, which is the same thing as pleading guilty.

I guess I'll have to wait and see what the fine is. Hopefully its nothing much, so I can just pay it off and go to online traffic school. I don't want to bother going to court with a plea unless its some ridiculous amount. The court is at least a half hour drive away. Ugh.

Hey, where were you in Del Mar? I go through there on my way home from work. I'll be sure to stop before the line now!

That sux man.
The Pigs around that area has nothing better to do besides donut trips.
I was ticketed for speeding at 37mph on a 35mph area.
I pleaded not guilty and Thank god, the pig didn't show up in court.
