Exhibition of Speed?! In OC? And it wasn't even me!

I was waiting for my friend to get cash at an ATM, and then we were going to caravan to a club, when in the parking lot, one of my buddies punched it and squealed his tires. All of us left, and while driving down the street, a bunch of cops came from way back and pulled my buddy (in an Evo) and me over. I didn't admit to anything because I didn't do anything. . . just thought they were gonna harass us for driving "rice rockets." He tells me I was both speeding and "exhibiting speed." I told him I didn't, but he gave me a ticket anyway. Does anyone have any ideas to help me get out of this crap? My buddy in the Evo got a ticket too, but the guy that did it (super charged G with bald tires) got away! Grrrr!

Violation 23109(c) CVC Exhibition of Speed. Misdemeanor, not correctable.
Southbound from Bolsa/Magnolia intersection.

Thanks, city of Westminster!

Go to court, tell them about the caravan, then ask them to proove it was you. I hate that it has to be the cops words versus yours.

dude yea I agree with 6mtpnut. Check in the place of speed how fast he clocked you at... If its 40 or 45 your straight. I got outta mine that way and I actually got a public defender. Their available for you so why not take them. The cool thing is they know people in the court already so if their cool with the judge, the judge will kinda favor them. I had a chick who got me excused within 5 minutes. I swear it was awesome. Drew bro you got nothing to be worried about but if you have any further questions gimme a jingle. If you dont have my number anymore, pm me and ill give it to you again. PEACE OUT PLAYA

what a funk monkey!

Apparently my "approximate speed" was 45 in a 45 zone. I guess that means speeding, eh? I've got a lot of good advice (from lawyer friends) about how to fight this. I'm definitely going to!

edit:
BTW, they didn't clock us, and they didn't see us. They just heard someone squeal tires, and grabbed up whoever they first saw that "looked" like the guilty party. . .chumps!

Make sure he brings his logs for the night.. they tend to make stuff up in court.

I had one cop tell the judge that I admitted to him that it was "fight or flight, and officer, since I knew I couldn't fight you I ran"

This was for running a red light.

Anyway, make sure you ask for his logs as a record of any "conversations" you had with him.

That sucks, a misdemeanor? I didn't know that you can get one for exhibition of speed. I always wondered about what happens if they get you for that, does that mean that you'll have a record with your picture and finger prints taken? Yikes! Now that sounds scary...

Just a thought,

Even if the cop somehow convinces the judge that it was you, you can always say that u had a muscle spasm which cause you to gas it which made ur tires squeal, and u were racing or showing off as u werent speeding when he caught u.

My friend got the same exact ticket but the cop wrote down the code wrong so he got away with it or something, either way, good luck man... just have ur buddies control their needs to show off esp when ur all driving around in high profile cars together
