I've had a Sammy DLP now for 2 years - awsome set & the new ones are even better. However, I thinkk the smallest DLP is 42 or 46 inches. Tweeter often has them on sale (check tweeter.com) for 10% to 15% off, free delivery, etc.

I stopped by WH Circuit City earlier today. Didn't really see any deals except for an open box 32" no named brand LCD TV for $899

Not really, everything seems to be normal-retail priced. They had pretty similar models since my last visit. Heh, you just won't walk out from there with a new 'brand name' 27"+ LCD without paying at least a grand.

I ordered my 61" Samsung DLP TV and 32" LCD TV's over the internet from Pricegrabber.com. I usually go to the local electronics stores and pick the models that I like best then I go online to find the best available price. Even with shipping costs I can usually find a TV for significantly less than the cost of purchasing at the local electronic stores.

I preferred DLP TVs because the cost of a 61" plasma was much higher and they didn't make LCD TV's that large at the time. The picture on my DLP is as good or better than most Plasmas I've seen. The only reason I would have purchased the Plasma would have been based on space requirements. My DLP TV is about 16" deep whereas the Plasma would have been about 4". Since I easily have the room (it's in a recessed television niche), I went with the DLP. If I needed a 61" wall mount I would have gone Plasma. As a general rule, if you're looking for a TV smaller than 36" go with an LCD and If you're looking for one 40" or larger, I'd go DLP (if you have the room). There are several DLP TV's out there but they all use the Texas Instruments DMD chip. I would find one (like some of the Samsung's) that have the latest DMD chip. It has a faster switching time and has even better contrast than older models. Dollar-for-dollar it's a better deal than Plasma and several years later, when your picture starts to dim, you just purchase a new light source and your TV is back to like-new condition.
