although I am not religious, where ever Tookie might be, I am sure he will find peace. is it the idyllic peace that we envision. probably not. It's more than likely the peace that he deserves.
i will wish for Tookie the peace he deserves. no more, no less. (i will not waste my hard earned money to pour a drink for him though. For me, pouring a drink for someone who has passed is the same as bestowing an honor upon that person. Only those that have proven to be a great friend, a positive contributor to society, and (notice I used the word And not OR) someone who lives in my mind as a positive deserves that honor.)
In this case, the peace he deserves may mean he is constantly face down with a shotgun in his back or maybe sitting on a sofa with a shotgun in his face.

Nothing can atone for what he did but killing him didn't do anything except make a bad situation worse.
I think it would be tougher to sit behind bars the rest of your life than to be painlessly put to sleep via injection.
The death penalty doesn't do ANYTHING towards making people stop killing each other. It's useless. The only ones who find any worth in the death penalty are the lawyers who get to bill to these cases for years and years. I'm sure the state spent millions of dollars on defense attorney's and prosecutors just to try his cases all the way to the Supreme Court. Every little nuance of his case has been ceaselessly debated and argued by these hired guns just to get new trials. The hell with it. Find him guilty of murder and let 'em rot in prison without parole. The end.
My biggest problem with this case isn't just the appeals system. It's also the fact that he killed those people over 20 years ago! Essentially you're not killing the same person anymore. Over a 20 year period everyone changes. I'm not advocating letting him go - not by a long shot. I'm saying now that he has the eyes of the world on him for trying to do something positive the state would have reaped more benefit from letting him spend his life in jail trying to do positive things than they will ever get from killing him.
Like I said he'll never be able to make up for what he did but I believe he should have spent the rest of his life trying...
