Caliber Collision in Anaheim - Don't waste your time

Just picked up my Gialla grille from Ben at Bulletproof Automotive. Took it down to Caliber Collision in Anaheim (Katella/57 Fwy). Asked the guy for an estimate to paint it. They quoted me $276!!! I said he must be kidding. Told him I just brought in a brand new Honda Accord bumper back around Thanksgiving time and they painted the whole thing for $240. What a joke. Waste of my time. Their location isn't close to being busy. I don't think they understand this market. When a customer walks in with a part like this, the insurance company isn't paying for it so they need to price their services appropriately. Guess they can go back to watching Jerry Springer now.

"Uhhh....well, the painter has to sand down and prime the grill". And??? Didn't they sand down and prime the bumper. "Uhhh...they don't have to prime the bumper". Bullsh1t. The OEM bumper from Honda was ABS just like the Gialla grill. The surface wasn't rough enough to hold paint without primer. He came back and said "OK, I adjusted the hourly rate as low as I could possibly go and I got it down to $176". He asked the painter right in front of me to estimate the labor hours and the painter said "4 or 5 hours". Am I expected to pay labor for the guy's lunch hour and all the time the part is drying on a stand in the shop??? WTF? I could sand that myself and prime it in about 30 minutes. There are no intricate shapes in a Gialla grill.

I went down to M.O.B. Works in Orange today to get a quote to paint the Gialla grill. A couple of people on this board recommended them and they're right down the street from where I work. Miguel quoted me $80. Sounds like a good deal to me. I'll report back on the quality of their work next week.

Picked-up my grille from M.O.B. Works today. Looks great. Good quality. Super fast turn around time. Friendly, professional service. Great price. Ask for Miguel.

The original two prices were nuts. I got mine painted by DM in Van Nuys(body shop Miller Infiniti's contracts with) and they use some kind of exact matching or whatever and they were not as much as you got quoted.

The $80 was a good price.

BTW, damm good thing you are deep in OC as out cars are near identical twins. Blue bats overlays.....MS GT7's(19"), gialla grill, etc.

2003, auto though.
