1. YES an minor can do traffic school.. same rules..
2. your ticket is +25, therefore you can NOT take traffic school
3. Try the trial by written decleration before you do anything. go look it up online or osmething
4. I got a ticket going "+90" on a 65 and it was a tad over $300 with traffic school
5. Do EVERYTHING you can to fight this ticket..

^ WHY and HOW would I fight this ticket? If I do fight it and lose will the results (fine, insurance, points) be any different? And how could I fight it, what would I say?

you want to try to fight by written declaration. better chance than just showing up to court.

I can't tell you how to beat the ticket. But if you go into the courtroom and plea "no contest", the courts are usually more lenient on you, and you can usually get away with a smaller fine - up to half of what the original fine is.
VERY IMPORTANT: Do not get that confused with a "guilty" plea...

A guilty plea means just that - you are admitting you are guilty.

"No contest" basically means that whether you are innocent or not, you just don't want to fight it for whatever reason you may have, and will accept the consequences.

More technically, according to Wikipedia - In both criminal and civil trials in the United States, a plea of "nolo contendere" means that the defendant neither admits nor disputes the charge. This is also called a plea of no contest or, more informally, a "nolo" plea. "Nolo contendere" is Latin and literally means "I do not wish to contend." Spiro Agnew famously approximated it as "I didn't do it, but I'll never do it again." In making such a plea, a defendant accepts that he or she may be found guilty by the court without ever admitting to the act(s) charged.

So is that something I can do (me being a minor and have a mandatory court appearance)? Anyone else do this?

Anyone know what the judge is going ask me? Like why I did it, etc?

Not sure if its same in each state, but in NJ, you talk to the prosecutor not the cop, I was easily able to have him lower my speed by 15mph, I think I did 30over on the ticket, only got 1 speeding ticket ever. If the cop doesnt show up ... extra bonus. Also for the future always be nice to the officer when he pulls you over, even though it might be bs, I have always done that and more than not got away with stuff. Also if you are polite and you do show up in court to talk to him, like in NY, he might go easy on you.

edit: if you lose, worst that happend is what you got the ticket for.

Good luck

I've got two tickets pending right now. 76 in a 40. and 55 in a 40. The court might offer you traffic school but it will still effect your insurance.

I find it funny that the kid has admitted that he was speeding- and everyone is encouraging him not to be accountable.. wtf? What ever happened to taking ur licks?

Strtsk8r321 - u seem like a good kid. i didn't hear you make any bs excuses or get pissed at the cop doing his job/ good 4 u. Not sure if ur in the OC or not/ but will tell u that OC judges don't like to hear stories. So, if u decide to go to court, here's what u can do:

go to court to plead 'no contest'. Ask the judge (since this is ur 1st offense) if he'd be willing to reduce ur fine and/or let u go to traffic school since ur a good kid, do well in school, 1st offense.. blah. If the cop doesn't show, you're golden. If he shows, ur only there to ask for lenience - NOT to say that u didn't do anything wrong. (and u might even say that). The judge may see that ur not trying to squirm out and avoid accountability- and may give u a break.

U should go in believing that the cop will indeed be there (CA has a deficit remember) and so prepare for that scenario.

Also, i hear what ur saying about passing the car. Seems reasonable to me. In time u will learn to scan for cops before making that move (assuming the move was safe, btw).. otherwise- miss the exit, get off and get back on and make it next time. Look at it this way, u get to drive ur G for an extra 2 min.!!

Best of luck.
