Exclamation I need some help guys.....

A friend and I are doing a big canned food drive for the Holidays. Our goal is to fill his entire truck bed with canned goods (approx 2000 cans) that we can take down and donate to the Houston Food Bank by Christmas. We are not doing this for any organization, business, or function. Just as a charitable gesture of the Holidays as individuals trying to give back to the community. If anyone would like to donate a few cans of canned(non-perishable) goods it would be greatly appreciated. I will be out at the meet this weekend so if you want to bring them to the meet that would work out great. We also have a small discount worked out with a local grocery store if we come in and buy canned goods in one bulk lump sum. We did this because many people that we have mentioned this idea to offered to donate a few bucks to the cause if they were unable to meet up with us to donate the goods. If you wanna donate but won't be at the meet this weekend we are planning on driving around to different parts of town during one weekend coming up and maybe we could meet up then if that's more convenient.

When we all started this sub-forum one of our goals was to organize and give back as a G community and this is a perfect opportunity. I appreciate any help you guys can give and Happy Holidays!!!!

Depending on the truck, 2000 cans is WAY low. I have done the "Scouting for Food" drive in my little burg for the last 15 years. We have had 1000 in a truck and it was just over half full. Good luck with your food drive!

If 1000 is over half full, wouldn't 2000 be completely full? I suck at math.

was kinda my thought too haha but......Truck bed- 6.5'x5'x1.5'= approx. 50 cubic ft.=86,400cu.in. Average canned item- 3"x3"x4.5"= approx. 40.5 cubic inches. 86,400/40.5= 2,133 canned items So thats where we got 2k. Its a good round number. Maybe he had a small sized truck perhaps??

P.S. I love your signature TexasScout Nice quote

don't forget to accommodate for the spaces/pockets/gaps between each can. unless the cans are a perfect rectangular shape. lol
