Texas heat - are you guys feeling power loss?
Texas heat - are you guys feeling power loss?
I don't recall this ever being this bad before, but my car is old with alot of miles. '03 with 100,000miles 5AT with original clutch fan.
With this crazy summer heat (90+deg), I'm getting some power loss or specifically lag from a stop....and pretty much only when I have my a/c on. It feels like the first half of the throttle application is doing nothing. Only when I dig into the pedal will it pop the tranny down and move.
Otherwise, I drove around when it was cooler (below 85deg, before lunch and later in evening) without the a/c and I get really good and normal power delivery from stops just like I would otherwise.
Are you guys feeling the same thing in Texas or is there something with my car?

I think it is your car. I also have the 2003. You always loose power when the temps are 100+, but I don't experience what you describe. I have 118,000 miles on the sedan.

So what does "e only had my G for a month now" mean, spelling ****?
Don't be the pot calling the kettle black. After ~ 25,000 posts, I think ttrank knows what he's saying. BTW, if you haven't checked out his car, you should. Sickest G on this site.
Back OT, I replaced a JWT with my revup airbox, and the motor runs so much better. Too damn hot here in Texas for an open air filter.

You'll get very little since the airbox is sealed and pressurizes as your RPM's increase. The plastic z tube will help as well. Metal tubes heat up more than plastic. They look damn good though.
Update:
-a/c compressor belt is gone-
I've posted essentially the same topic over here-->

There seems to be a few more people following that one.
