Axle Click on my 04 G35? Vid Inside!!
I just had this fixed last week. My 06 mt started doing this at about 33K.
Couldn't figure out what the heck was going on, but the dealer knew immediately. Fixed for free per the TSB and under drive train warranty. My dealer said it should be a one time fix - no re- occurrences. Whatever they did was pretty simple and involved lubing the axels, but no parts replaced as far as I could tell.

It was probably done under powertrain, I still am covered there - for a little while longer.
My dealership fixed my axle click even with all my mods..turbo..suspension...etc.
The amazing thing is there is almost an identical TSB on the G37. How can you screw something up for 6 years and then not fix it in a new model? Not care and just handle complaints? I smell accountants here...

hmm, I might have this issue, as I was reversing out of my garage with the windows down, I heard some ticking. ugg I need to find a dealer that wont mess around with me and just fix it under the TSB.
TSB = Manufacture defect
Infiniti Elite Warranty = covers manufacturers defects
should be that simple.
Yeah, I hear you there. Anticipating the usual "minimum diagnostic fee is $134" crap when my VC's started leaking oil at the seals, I had photos, the plugs numbered and oil soaked separate from not oil soaked, etc. Basically it was "let's discuss what is there left to diagnose?"
The clicking issue hasn't been such a big deal because the gas tank recall required the removal of the axle, and reassembly puts new moly grease on the splines. So unless a car hasn't had the recall done, axle click should not be an issue.
I'm just very specific that I want it in writing on the paperwork that I've authorized no charges at all w/o specific approval. Also if you are close to a "recommended service interval" imply you would consider it but not unless this is taken care of, then just don't have any other work done.
It's a sad commentary so many people don't look to the dealer service as anything other than something to avoid at any cost. It was enough of a cash cow already but greed has killed that cow for a lot of dealers. So they gouge the people who are left, the ones dumb enough to buy into their stealership ways.

I hope I wont have any diagnostic fee issue, but we will see. I am going to go to a different dealer again. Hope its smooth sailing.
Ok so I tested this out today in an empty parking lot near my house. I definitely heard clicking backing out of my garage, but once I guess it heated up it stopped clicking, because I tried many times with the doors open, forward and reveres to see if I can hear anything but no clicking at all. I guess ill have to live with it or until it gets worse, since there is no way in hell I will be able to duplicate the sound when I get to the dealer.
I have a clicking sound coming from my car, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing a lot of ya'll are having.
When I make a right turn in my car I hear a clicking sound (similar to a pinwheel hitting a paper plate in a fast motion) coming from my driver side front wheel. I've also heard it a few times when I'm driving straight at high speeds (70-75mph). Now I'm thinking this may be becaused I' am lowered (s-techs) and my front tires tuck under the fenders and maybe they're rubbing and that's causing the noise? I could be wrong, but would anyone have any ideas what it may be or possibly have the same problem?

When I bought my car back in Oct 09, I didn't have any problem at all with the clicking. After reading a this thread a month later I started to hear this annoying clicking after every shift. Same exact problem every other person has had.
I followed the tsb and removed both axles and turned them exactly 180 degrees from the differential and wheel hub. I also cleaned the axles with the wire brush and greased the spot where the tsb states to grease. After that it worked perfectly and hasn't had any noise since.

Both my cars were done under warranty and the noise never came back. My G Coupe is at 6 years and 4 months, 62k miles, and the clicking was done so early I don't even have the record of it. It is most noticeable when the car has been sitting, you start up with the window down. Sounds sometimes like it's coming from under the car in the middle, funny how sounds travel. Drive next to a wall on your side of the car, you will hear it if this is your problem.
Out of warranty, no question I would do it myself and just pay attention to the bolts that are highly recommended for replacement, NOT re-use.
Ignoring that kind of guidance is where consumers doing their own work using a TSB gives that whole process a bad name. The TSB assumes you already know the FSM and more for the car for the relevant sections, it's not a DIY guide except for the most simple fixes like sunroof creaking or rattle fixes in the interior, etc.
