ECU Compatibility G35 03 - 07 - Problems
Hello all!
I need help diagnosing my car's problem or someone to point me in the right direction.
The Background
2003 Infiniti G35 6MT - Pearl White - 171,000 mi
I have owned my G since 2012 and I have done all the necessary maintenance and replacements for the car.
I use the Nico club Infiniti manuals to help me with all repairs and diagrams.
What's going on? (You don't need to read this)
While one my way home from work, my car suddenly stopped down the street from my house. There was random ticking and the dash lights were flickering. A stranger helped me push the 3.3k lb brick down the street and into my drive way.
My code reader shot out a P0011 code. I was 2k miles away from doing my oil change, so I jacked that hungry boy up and replaced the fluids. I also bought a new battery and pulleys for the car since the maintenance sort of overlapped.
After that the car still did not turn over. The reader was still shooting the same code. I then did an inspection on my cam position sensor wiring harness and found no shorts/rips. I replaced the intake valve timing control solenoid valve (bank 1) because I remember spilling some oil below the oil refill cap while trying to top it off in the past. I still had the same code and problem after I replaced those parts. The car cranked, but it did not start. So by the process of elimination I suspected that maybe the cam shaft sensor was the culprit. I also inspected my spark plugs and ignition coils. The ignition coils for cylinder's 2, 3, 4 and 6 had slight raised bump at the top near the the pug, but thankfully no oil on the coils. I ended up replacing them though because I had them out of the car. When I reconnected my battery the inside of the car was making a random ticking noise. (no key in the ignition) I disconnected and reconnected my battery and after waiting a couple minutes the random ticking went away. I tried to turn the car over, but suddenly there was a loud spark noise that came from under the hood. The random ticking came back, NATS red light switch on, radiator fans are on, and even my wipers intermittently turn on and off by themselves in intervals.
I had the car towed to the dealer and they told me that my ECU was done, but now a new problem that came up is that my reader is not connecting to my ECU when it previously did. (Everything is plugged in and no fuses are out or fusible links are burnt)
I replaced all the relays in the IDPM, but the ticking continued so I replaced the IDPM and now no ticking.
I also replaced the BCM (Direct replacement) for the windshield wipers issue.
I cannot find the proper ECU replacement for my car because its an early model G35. ( ECU: DC MEC31-902 A1 3328)
I've tried other replacements such as: AZ MEC31 - 910 D1 2930 - 19 MEC35-260-B1 4113
ALSO: There's no proper ECU compatibility thread so I hope we can start one here.
Please let me know if there's a specific photo I can take to help each other.
Thanks,
