Best A/F when doing a tune

For an N/A VQ with basic mods (see sig), what would the ideal A/F be in order to achieve a safe tune (no need to worry about kab0000m), maximum power gains w/o regard to gas mileage?

Can't say for sure but I would shoot for between 12.5-13.0. I would be more concerned with your timing tables as well... this will chunk a motor just as fast or faster if you detonate. Sorry I can't be of more help just haven't been around these cars enough to know what they like.

Don't hold your breath on people who tune these cars helping out. I asked the guys that tuned the JWT cars(VRT) what timing they were running with 14psi to require race gas(104 or something like that) and I got no response, even sent them PMs. I was just curious because I figured it must have been higher since 14psi shouldn't need that high of octane with a built 8.5:1 compression motor. I was just trying to learn myself. So good luck, let me know how the tune works and who does it for you.

I'll be doing it at Speedtech Racing - they've worked on VQs before and I believe the price quote was 600 for greddy e-manage+harnesses + $80/hr to dyno tune.

After Unichip tune, my a/f is at 14:1 at 4000 rpm and slowly tapers down to about 13.6:1 at redline. Before 4000 rpm I couldn't give you an accurate assessment, since there is some variances between dyno runs. Also, my tune is not 100% complete since we had almost 100 degree heat in the shop and the engine was completely heat soaked after just a few tuning runs. But he seemed to indicate that he was happy with the a/f, and I trust him, so take it for what it's worth.

you WILL make the most power right about 12.8 to 1, also advance your timing 2 degrees above stock over the whole rpms...

this will vary car to car but is pretty much the standard with the VQ

Wow... it is expensive compared to my brothers cars, but a pretty good price considering import stuff is always more money. Does anyone use the UTEC locally that you know of?

Not that I know of. I know of only 1 place that sells it in Calgary, but they've never tuned a 350z/g35 w/ it before.
