Tailpipe readings for A/F?

Went to get my first dyno pull on the G today, but software/hardware screw-up and after two hours of messing with the computer set up could only get a reading at 1/2 RPMs so gave up. But he had to use a tailpipe sniffer to try for the A/F readings, as when he looked at the setup under the car said he couldn't get to a spot to get a secure weld to put a bung in ahead of the CAT's. My question is: will this give an accurate enough reading of A/F? He wasn't familiar at all with the G--is there any way to get a good A/F reading further up the exhaust chain?

Was planning to send off the ECU to TechnoSquare next week along with the A/F readings. Can they do a good enough reflash w/o the readings, or should I hang back till I can get them to them?

the reading from the tailpipe is almost always leaner then upstream before the cat. did the operator mention if he kept losing tach signal?

When TS does the flash with ECU in the car Tadashi hooks up sniffer to tailpipe, runs cable to laptop in car and takes it for a test drive... I'm not sure how they determine when it's a sent ECU - I think they just go by the mods you list and download a preset program that works for those mods.

Also, I was told that dyno A/F reading are often different from what will show while driving - not sure why... I've had dyno with slightly lean readings went to TS, they did their thing (they way I mentioned above) and it was pretty much spot-on 13 the whole time...

Not sure if this helps you at all... you can always Tadashi (or Yoshi) directly at Technosquare and they can answer your question: (310) 787-0847

Wasn't so much a problem of loosing the tach signal, as it was his hand held unit (controller?) was getting a different reading than the computer, so he figured he had a firmware problem with the connection 'tween the two.
