Cobb Access Port... Any updates???

Anyone have any updates on the Cobb Access Port? I was considering a Utec for awhile there but I think this is the way to go since it is just around the corner.

No cutting / splicing / installing / just plug and play right into the ECU... Cant beat that!

Check out UpRev's Orsiris - like "promised" Cobb product but here now. Getting good user feedback.

Whats going on Art? So your looking to upgrade from the ss box? Good decision buddy. As you know I have had the UTEC for a while and am loving it. I'm going to boost my G in a few months and have been researching like crazy, lol. As for the tuning port you are looking at, i don't know if it is a good option for you since you are sc'ed, seems more for a NA application. Our cars only come with a MAF sensor from the factory not a MAP sensor. Tuning wise on the stock ecu, a MAF sensor can only read up to about 6psi then fuel map adjustment is maxed. A MAP sensor reads boost and not vacuum which usually comes with cars that are FI from the factory. I don't know if COBB is integrating something to add in a MAP sensor to connect with the stock ecu, obviously more to come from COBB. The main take away here is that with the tuning port you will be maxed out at 6psi for tuning the stock ecu's fuel maps unless COBB finds a way to adapt a MAP sensor to the stock ecu (don't see it happening). Just spend your money on something proven like a UTEC or FCON VPRO if your wallet allows

p.s. you got my number, feel free to call me if you ever have any questions

^^ What I just said pertains to the UpRev also. This has been discussed on a few threads over on my350z.

True, 5-9 psi, that is unless UpRev rescale the MAF!
BTW, to what gms or cfm do your 6psi translate? Thanks

Hiya Julian,

Hmmmmm Good points... I would think Cobb would take this into consideration and build something into it for use with FI since most people willing to shell out this kinda cash are most likely FI'd.

Interesting... I am going to wait on the Cobb and then if it can't tune what I need I will get the Utec...

I wanted the Cobb for the ease and also because DynoComp does not tune the Utec and I have been happy with Rich's tuning.

Which FI are you going with man? Any new additions on your car? I have not seen you around in a while.

Yeah, I also figured that they would possibly take the MAP sensor into consideration when creating this tuning tool for our cars. I guess only time will tell .

Anyways, as for the UTEC it is definitely worth it for the money. The only downfall is that you have to use turbo xs' wideband to sync with the UTEC while tuning. I am planning on having my turbo xs wideband read the passenger side of my motor like it currently is. Then I want to buy an aem or innovate wideband for the driver side of my motor that will be placed on my pillar for me to see. This way I can monitor both exhaust banks. The turbo xs wideband is too bulky to put anywhere in clear view. You could do a similar setup but since you already have your zeitronix you would just have the buy the turbo xs one with the UTEC.

As for tuning, Tony at UMS Tuning could do the tune for you like he does for many other G's & Z's in AZ with a UTEC. He is very reputable, cheaper then rich and will tune basically anything you throw at him.

Boost for myself will either be a vortech kit like yourself or a procharger. I want to go turbo but my car is coming up to 75k miles and I don't have the money for a built motor right now. With the sc I get to keep all my current NA mods while staying somewhat reliable (for FI wise that is). Twins and built motor will be for next year

Good luck with your choice and feel free to pm me or post here if you want to chat anymore.

Julian

I just hit 77K miles on my car and about 35K miles of that are on my Vortech kit. I have not even had to replace my belt yet and it is still in good shape with no stress marks as of yet. I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with the Vortech on my daily driver. I dont think you can beat it for reliability as long as you maintain it properly.

Procharger looks to be a good kit as well but that cog belt set up for some reason just does not sit right with me...
