Wink Here's my dyno...need advice on tuning

Hey guys,

I have a 2003.5 G35 Coupe 6MT with the following mods:
Random Technologies High Flow cats
Borla True Dual catback exhaust
350z intake tube
JWT Popcharger intake

Here's a dyno I did a few years back...nothing has changed since then.

This was done with about 10 other 350Z's...my car was the 2nd highest HP car there, only losing to a heavily modded 350z. Most of the other Z's were in the 230-240 range (with one at 217 hp )

Unfortunately, I don't have a plot of the torque. My AFR seems pretty steady though...

Do you guys think it is worth it to get the car tuned? Any guesses on how much power is still untapped? I would be going with the UpREV/Osiris package and having it "e-tuned."

Well, with my very limited knowledge, here is what I can tell you. I'm only advising with information I learned based on my recent dyno.

Looks like your AFR is steady but lean. Its probably from the HFC's and true dual. You may be able to get a tuner to bring that line closer to 13 and pull some power out of it across the band.

I think your money would be better put on buying a new mod...

Seems a tad lean in the lower rpm ranges. If that's all wot thoughout the dyno test, then a reflash should net you some hp at low/mid rpm ranges. A/F seems okay up top. You might be 1 mod away from running too lean though. ie.. plenum or plenum spacer mod

but I'm not an expert.

Thanks for the replies guys

The pulls were all done at WOT. 2 in 4th gear and 1 in 5th.

I think I'm going to go ahead and get the tune done. I would like some more midrange power...I don't really wind her out to redline all that often, so I hopefully would gain some more "useable" power. The guys at UPREV have also been very helpful in answering my questions.

I agree. Although the Osiris is great in the fact that they can email you a reflash, he has the older gen G w/o the widebands.

So he can't just log a run on a Uprev Cipher and get a reflash. He'd have to install the plenum/spacer and get another dyno session done. So might as well get the mod first, get another dyno run and top it off with a reflash.

If he had a newer wideband 02 G (05+), he could reflash now. Add the mod, do a datalog and get another flash. Basicly eliminating the dyno session (and cost)

Thanks for the responses.

I'll go ahead and get the 5/16 spacer. I assume motordyne is the one to get? I haven't been in the modding scene in about 3 years!

You're just about done. Most VQ'a top out at 260whp range with bolt-ons.

filanj,

I remember back in the day when Kinetix first released their plenum, it was crap. IIRC it would warp and cause all sorts of problems. Has their reputation changed? I've searched, and really can't find anything about this V+ model.

What do you like about the V+ over the spacer? I'm not really interested in increasing the volume of my car anymore, just looking for what would be best in terms of power.
