OTOH if you have a REVUP engine, its just the opposite, I almost always recommend doing both.

It seems like much of that was from the exhaust. What do you mean by "exhaust?" Did you do headers, test pipes, cat back?

Paniller, for this test we only installed a catback exhaust. I have, however, subsequently installed headers and high-flow cats, but those came a few months after we did the intake mods including the MotorDyne stuff and the Stillen intake and catback true dual exhaust.
haagen_daz, I never drove the car with just the MotorDyne mods since we tested some other parts on the dyno that same day, but given that the plenum spacer does increase the overall volume of the plenum it might deepen the sound of the intake charge a bit by virtue of changing the resonance or harmonics of the overall intake tract and the plenum/manifold itself. Tony from MotorDyne can tell you more about sound if you shoot him an e-mail.

On your engine, the 5/16" spacer will change the induction sound modestly. You have to listen for it to hear it.Originally Posted by haagen_dazs

On a REVUP engine the MREV2/spacer combo will change the engine sound substantially. Its louder, deeper and easily noticed.

Correct me on this.. I have an 05 6MT.
so the MREV2's are made from an 04 lower plenum, and the top of each intake is shaved down to give better flow...
wouldnt adding a spacer to a revup engine give similar clearance over the top of each induction tube(or whatever the correct name is) so it would be pretty similar to having a revup with the MREv2 lower plenum and no spacer ?
but you get better overall gains by having even more clearance with both ?

The MREV2 also has different length intake runners (induction tubes haha) than the revup models lower plenum has. For some reason adding a spacer on the revup engine does nothing. The spacer only benefits an MREV plenum or a non revup plenum. Theres quite a few threads and a dyno chart here and there that show what the spacer does on a revup...Originally Posted by cmesidewayz

Seems intuitive but I'm guessing the spacer and lower plenum will help with airflow on FI applications as well?
