Raised rev limiter does it help?

Is raising the rev limiter on a non revup g35 worthwhile? Will your car run faster and is it worth putting the extra stress on the engine?

You don't raise the limiter to make more power unless you have cams. People raise their rev limiter to avoid bouncing off of the redline. This was more of a PITA for non-revups, as their redline is exactly at the visible redline on the rev-meter.

We revups have a little more room to play with. (I've reved up to as high as 7300 without boucing off; could be that the meter is a bit off at higher gears).

Not worth it unless you have other mods to support the change. Plus without better springs you run the risk of valve float.

Unless you have some decent headwork done, you'll risk damaging your valves.

i took my 04 into 7k once..big accident..didnt mean too, foot sliped..lol. but the needle never bouced. i dunno..but my car was built december that yr..did they only put the revups in the 05 models?? prolly a dumb question lol.

reason i ask is because when i raced my friends 03 350z he didnt have a very pronouced sound when the motor sounds something like VTEC kicked in, but mine sounded like a bat outa hell, and i pulled on him alil.

I've hit the rev limiter (bumped to 7200) dozens and dozens of times at the track on on dynos... Haven't had any problems (knock on wood)... I probably just jinxed it.

I have a rev up.. I believe dyno charts say we should shift at 6800 though
