G35 & engine life

Hello Guy/Gals, Im new to the site and new to G35's in general. Ive recently picked up a 2004 G35 coupe w/ an automatic. I got a great deal on it as i purchased it cash.. It now has 95,000 miles and im just wondering if there is any major maintenance I need to be looking into in the near future.. Timing belt, accessory belts, etc.. The previous owner ran M1 Synthetic always and ive always used it in my other vehicles as well.

Roughly, if the engine/car hasn't been beaten on how long do these motors last? 150k? 200k?

im just really new at this and as much reading around as im doing id just like to ask these questions off the bat just incase I do have something major I need to do soon to prevent any type of failure.

much appreciated

Matt

around 200-250 atleast im guessing. Pretty much the same as the vq30 in the older maximas and stuff, maybe better. VQ's are strong engines.

so I should watch out for the trans? I did get an extended 2 yr warrant and 30k miles..

Relatively, how much does a rebuilt/new trans cost for these cars?

Not sure of transmission cost. The good news is these cars have a timing chain, not a belt, so you shouldn't ever have to replace it for the life of the engine. The water pump, of course, should be changed as with any other car. As a precaution I change water pumps between 90-100,000. Spend a little now to save a HUGE potential headache (ruined engine) later.

With an automatic transmission I would guess it would have longer life than the 6MT. The extended warranty is a good idea because it should cover the internal components of the transmission at the very least.

I appreciate the info. I'm in Corona so maybe if my G does blowup i'll go buy a new one from you hah

all kidding aside. I used to have some seriously fast mustangs and such and I finally decided to stray away from the headache associated with them.

I'm very pleased so far with the G35.. nice, luxurious (for me at least) and even @ 95k miles it feels like a brand new car. Everything is tight, fit & finish.

So since the car has 95k on it, should I just pull it in the garage and take care of the water pump now?

Thanks

Tranny, AC, wheel bearings, suspension rehab, shocks should be the only concerns besides the usual brakes and tires.
