Those Who Have Dynoed

I'm taking my sedan in next week to get dynoed prior to installing my Stillen exhaust. The shop I'm taking it to mentioned they had problems with a 350Z getting a good read on RPMs by hooking it up the normal way and might have to use an optical setup. I have not seen this problem mentioned in any of the numerous forums. have any of you had problems or read of such? It's $15 extra for optical but hey, that's $15.

Thanks all.

P.S. They use the Dynojet 248X.

Re: Those Who Have Dynoed

A place called Torque Freaks out on Airport Way. They look like they know what they're doing and asked all the right questions (like they actually were interested and cared). They also install aftermarket parts so I'm having them do my Stillen exhaust. Dyno is $75 for three runs including A/F ratio and you get the data files to play with. I plan to redyno once I've put a few hundred miles on the exhaust. I have the crank pulley coming too so I may have them install it if things work out well this time. Going in next Tuesday.

I had mine dyno'd and make sure they are aware that the auto won't hold a gear in manumatic. It took the guy a while to remember that and each time it would down shift and F'up the numbers.

I had my front springs and front sway bar installed there. They do know what they are doing. I'm going to have my g dyno'd there pretty soon. Let me know how it goes.

G49,

Make sure you post your results in the forum before and after the Stillen install -- looking forward to the results!

Thanks,

I will do so. I'm anxious to see the numbers.

Re: Those Who Have Dynoed

Make sure that the dyno shop is hooking up to the loop on the side of the engine. The loop on the front doesn't give a good reading and I think the one on the side of mine was grey. I didn't even know the one on the side existed but the shop I go to has had a few 350z's and coupes in so they knew exactly where it was. The loop is on the passenger side middle cyclinder(not sure if that is #2 or 4).

Re: Those Who Have Dynoed

Make sure you go in the second time when the outside temp, humidity and barometric pressure are close. 10 degrees and 65% humidity can act like 700 feet of altitude to your car.
