Engine is stock and will stay that way. Is an Osiris tune worth it?
Hey guys, I had my car tuned with Osiris by James Henson @ Henson Performance in Bessemer, Al. James is one of our (SPEC, Inc) dealers and he is a big beleiver in the benefits of using the Osiris tuning upgrades on cars no matter what the mods. I have not had any time to get on the dyno yet, but I hope to in the near future. I currently have the stock, 93 Octane Performance, and Valet Files. As you may know these cars have a limited throttle opening until about 3500 RPM. The 93 octane tune was done on the street and it also takes advantage of the WOT change which allows the cars throttle to open fully no matter what the RPM.
Now for some review info. I have to be honest, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I am used to tuning turbo cars and seeing tremendous gains...but with my NA G I assumed that it would be hard to tell much of a difference. Though the "felt gains" weren't stratospheric they are noticible. This is expecially true for throttle response and smoothness. The car does seem to be a bit quicker, but without dyno info it is hard to say what power gain was realized. As soon as I have time to get on the dyno I will let you know. We will also touch up the software on the dyno too so there may be more there that hasn't been untapped yet.
I will provide more info in the future as further mods are added. So, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

So is the Osiris just software that gets loaded into the ECU that allows a tuner to optimize the settings for better performance? Where can I find a list of shops in NJ that can tune my car using a dyno with the Osiris? I have an FI exhaust on the way and am planning on at least a spacer and maybe an intake so could I assume some decent gains with these mods and an Osiris tune?
I think the most obvious difference was the smoothness of the power delivery, the change in throttle response and the increase in midrange punch. Apparently my car was a little lean with the factory tune and this may account for some of the inconsistency that I felt before the reflash. James also touched up the timing a bit and I am happy overall. The software will be refined up on the dyno and will be updated to coincide with future mods...so I will keep you all posted! I am very interested to see what changes it will have on fuel economy because with my turbo cars I always gained some effeciency with tuning and actually saw improved MPG. Time will tell...

UpRev,
What about a tuner in Austin, Tx? I'm sure you have 1 in Dallas or Houston, but I don't want to drive 3 hours if I don't have to.

UpRev,
I am done modding my car with the exception of an UD pulley; I would like info from you about reflashing the ECU but for some reason I can't PM you....can you send me a PM about pricing/the process? I have an Injen CAI/Skunk2 plenum spacer/Borla cat back and a grounding kit...do you need me to dyno the car to see what the a/f is and can you tune the ECU for my mods? There aren't any tuners around me to get a dyno tune.
