Maybe look into Megasquirt for your early G35?

Another option, but it just a lot more initial work since there really isn't a base map to work with.

Initial research has shown that jime's car is about 800lbs lighter than mine..lol..that might help some. He did run low 12's N/A and high 10's with n2o on stock engine and stock tranny. Crazy ish I tell ya...

Anyways, I found this:

Thinking about it, I don't see why you can't connect just about any piggyback to this car. They should pretty much all work ( all non-plug and play ones anyways ).

4th gen (95-99) Maximas are extremely light. My former loaded 96 5MT weighed 2930lbs on a CAT scale. The GLE autos are around 3000lbs and the basic GXE 5MTs come in at 2880lbs. Jime's GXE auto has VQ35 block swap (few lbs lighter than the VQ30), he has 20lb racing seats in the front, no seat in the back, super light rims (motorcycle rims out back), slicks and motorcycle tires, lightweight battery, and some other weight reducing things.

Keep in mind he is racing in Canada where the air is apparently 10% nitrous. He'd be about .3-.4 seconds slower at a more typical track. Regardless, he know his stuff and how to make it perform.

You can plug most piggys if you are willing to hack a sack the wiring. But most (including me) perfer a more non-evasive procedure such as this (found it) Custom patch harness

Nice find...but between the utec and the harness you are looking at $1300. It's definitely not for me. I'd rather get an AEM FIC and cut the wires on my oem harness ( it's only a few anyways ).

Guys buy used UTECS from the Z guys and yeah, I'd assume they need to run aftermarket widebands for datalogging/tuning etc..

what would the cost be for the AEM FIC? How is the tuning on that done in comparison to the UTEC? I realize that if you are going FI than the UTEC probably has more functionality...

I've seen it as low as $375 new. I believe you can't advance timing with it..only retard ( which is fine for FI ). The utec is better no doubt, but it has it's share of problems because it's a piggy back. All piggy back tend to have their share of problems. I just can't justify paying $1000 for a utec + $300 for the harness. I might as well just pay the $2K for a Haltec and have perfection.
