New dyno numbers for my 03 5AT.

I took my car today once again to the dyno just for kicks and power came out to 242whp with 221wtrq. Mods are listed below plus fan clutch delete and a K&N panel filter with a oem v-stack removed for a large 5" V-stack.

This is the first time my car starts showing the "normal for a DE" power loss after 6300rpm. I guess it was gonna happen sooner or later, my previous dynoes have been pretty steady after 6300rpm but this one clearly shows a very decent drop off.

All in all, up to this moment, my car has gained 38whp and 18wtrq. I'm pretty happy I guess. Other than tuning, is there anything else left to do besides cams and stroker?

Not yet. It's a pain due to the fact that my car uses the 02-03 Maxima ECU instead of the normal 03.5-06 ecu. I know technosquare does it but I can't be without a car so sending them my ECU is a problem. I'll eventually get a piggyback though but for now it stays stock.

Ya, i need to get a tune. Why aren't there tuners for the 02-03 maxima ECU anyways??

and why can't we use something like that?

Good numbers...you can just drive to cali sometime and have them dyno tune it for you... haha

That might be my only option at this point.

this is WHP not flywheel...

so, the stock is 260 at the flywheel...(which is actually 280 since the coupe/sedan are the same engine and setup)

Really solid numbers. What kind of dyno is this?

If the early 03 sedan ECU truely is based off the one in the 02/03 Maxima, I'll do some research and see what the Maxima guys are doing. I use to have a modified 96 Maxima and I've spent 11 years on Maxima.org. The craftiness and experience of those guys absolutely makes G35driver.com and my350z.com look like a joke. I'll have to see what type of tuning options are vailable for those cars because those VQ35 Maxima/Altimas make some crazy gains from mods. I vaguely remember a handful of people running simple Apexi AFC units with excellent results. Really this could be good news because this reaffirms my belief that the 03 sedan ecu is more willing to compensate for intake and exhaust work than the later model cars.

Yesterday I was in contact with Rich over at Uprev and he said TechTom is the one that cracked the 03 G35 ecu and sold the tuning rights to Technosquare. Uprev doesn't want to spend the time or money trying to redo what TechTom did and what's licensed to TS. I can't blame them.

There is a guy that made a custom patch harness to run make the z/g utecs plug play. It's the same light gray ecu connector but I have no idea if the pinouts are the same as our maxima/G35 ecus. It's very innovative and interesting. But I'm not that interested in a piggy back if it just fights the oem flash and target a/f ratios

+1 I know the maxima guys have been gobbling up the utecs for sale on my350. It would likely be the best bet for that platform (along with technosquare), but you may have to deal with the occasional hot start issues that are common.

The dyno is a Dynojet.

I have the pinout diagram at home for the maxima and remember looking at my ecu harness and the wires I could remember were the same but I did not check all of them. I'll check when I get home with more detail.

I checked the pinout diagram I have for the maxima against the diagram I have in the 2003.0 FSM and they are identical as far as I can see. Injectors, MAF, Knock Sensors, Crank Pos. Sensor, etc...all the same.

I've been told they should be the same based off the early 2003 G's were just kinda thrown out there to get into the market.

I am interested to know what the Maxima guys are doing with theirs if they are, in fact, the same ECUs.

Lots of them are running simple Apexi AFCs. I believe the guy with the quickest NA/nitrous VQ35 Maxima (low 12s NA/low 11s nitrous) is running just an AFC. They use the AFC to manipulate both AF ratio and timing (via AF ratio manipulation).

This is getting interesting...
