Why even comment?

Anything in the 14's and above is running lean. I can assure you you are not at 17.1 during WOT. That is a definite quick death sentence for the VQ.

Nobody said it was a good thing, but I'm not super concerned either. Mods I have are very minimal. Car hasn't blown up in the 15k miles since the dyno, so I think I'm ok

Part throttle is not the same as wot. A 17+A/F ratio at WOT will usually cause misfires and usually won't even break the engine because the combustion ( or detonation ) is simply too weak. Been there, done that.

I highly doubt you are going to 17.1, if you are doing so without misfire, then at the very least you are loosing power.

OP- If you were running lean over a decent period of time, I would seriously consider checking/replacing the plugs.
Yeah...I'll look into that too thanks

UpRev Tuning

Just had my car tuned by UpRev also, I agree I had hoped for more, but they told me ahead of time average is 12-15HP. Anyways they were able to get almost 20HP, it dyno'd at 243HP. To date I have not done too much, just playing really and I am an amateur at this. I put in a custom stainless exhaust, great sound, more like a porsche not too young, added K&N intake, New performance plugs (found an oily leak typical in these engines), UpRev Tune with three maps (Track, Factory, Wife), and a cool little device that plugs into the accelerator and eliminates all lag (very cool). I want to get another 50HP. This week I was at Watkins Glen and got my butt kicked by a 350. Any suggestions for making it more track ready

hmmm those are interesting. I have never heard about those. I also like to add I like your three maps (track, factory, WIFE ) . Does the wife have a lower rev limiter on it or something?

Mine was just under 700 but that was with an 1 hour 30 mins on the dyno as well. Why did you only get three maps if you don't mind me asking? I thought they came with 5.

My tune cost $750, as mine is a 2003 and they could not do the more expensive option, which would have enabled me to do more. They did 20 passes on the dyno. By the way, it is very common to find oil in the sleeve of the spark plug on the dirvers side closest to the firewall, that must be fixed before tuning. They only charged me 150 to fix the issue. Also do all your mods first. I suggest putting in new NGK Iridium LFR7AIX-11.

I only got three maps, although I could have had 5, because it was not necessary, what other 2 maps might I need?

Cheers

I went with the five he said were standard. Performance with 93 octane, performance with 87 or whatever reg. gas is, valet (which sets governor at 45mph and a 3500 RPM), Anti theft (1mph governor, and 1500 RPM) and Fuel economy which is 4400RPM and changes the A/F ratio to 13.25)

I should of had my plugs swapped first but I didn't.

You don't have 17:1 AFR's. Except maybe at idle.

The ECU parameters for the G35 don't allow it to lean out that much. I don't know where you are coming up with that number but its not accurate.

Wait...fuel economy mode makes the AF ratio 13.25? That's richer than stock, how is that saving you fuel? Unless you meant 15.25?
