I definately think this is a "Wednesday" car (if you know what I mean). It makes more power than our shop G with the same mods (different headers) and I have days worth of tuning on it.
Im coming to you guys to get tuned when i get back to the states

I can't say. It's like asking if eggbeaters taste as good as regular eggs in a cake recipe. We won't know until we try.

egg beaters are horrible.

ART pipes have consistently dynoed higher than test pipes in every chart I've seen.

I think its safe to say ART pipes will make it easier to get to 300 hp than high flow cats would.

Thank you sexyrob for answering my question. I live in Greensboro and have a ton of parts i haven't yet installed such as mrev2,ztube, ART pipes, and tdx v2. Im waiting on my dc headers to get here then i plan on putting it all on and driving down there to get tuned. Im kinda wondering since you haven't tuned this exact recipe for 300 if i could get some free tune time on the dyno just for comparison sake. Im not asking for a whole free day just saying feel free to play around with my car just so you know you can make this amount of power with these parts you know. PM me if interested

Difficult with dc headers.......jus saying. Shortie headers proven not to make good power if any for the vq.

tomei v2, crawford, and nismo headers are probably the best shorties although they are the most expensive.
followed by the DC, Stillen, and Strup headers
lastly the bargan headers, top speed, ichiba, megan, aka almost anything on ebay.

The debate over headers will probably never stop, even though we have proven that the DC ceramic headers have made significant power on this car and our track car.
This tread was to show what is possible with the listed mods and our custom tune. Take it for what it's worth, but these are the mods that I am recommending, due to the fact that I haven't seen better numbers from any other stock G35 with bolt on parts.

Did you notice gains/losses by just changing out the headers on a stock tune? I think its been proven that without a tune headers are a terrible $$/HP mod. With a tune I would imagine that even the cheaper headers do better than stock.

I think different headers are shown to be better/worse depending on mods, especially cams.

Look at the graph and you can see that with the addition of the DC headers, CIN Xhaust and a slight tune adjustment, it added 27hp and 28tq. Now I would put our exhaust up against any others on the market for hp increase, but I know it doesn't make 27 more.
Also, being that the complete exhaust is now opened up, it allows me to add and sustain more timing throughout the rpm band creating more hp. Back pressure equates to heat, and heat reduces the engines ability to maintain timing.

But doesn't reducing BP result in moving the Torque hump up the curve? I would think that would reduce day to day "drivability" or "fun factor" if you will. It would weaken the curve down low, raise it on top and make it a high speed demon and not a stop light blaster.

Once again, look at the graph. The torque curve is substantially higher throughout the rpm band. I agree that some back pressure is key to making good, low end torque and with the Berks and our exhaust, it seems to be just right.
I drove this car around for a day after we installed the suspension, wheels and tires, and I can honestly say that it would roast my G that makes 16 less hp and 10 less tq.
BTW, this car is identical to mine, revup 6mt, same mods minus the headers, same wheels and tires. Even the same color.
Hopefully he will be ordering the Mrev 2 in the near future and it will make even more power.
