Your opinion means nothing because you are not boosted and have no idea the costs/work/sacrifices involved in doing so with a VQ35DE.

 

an unpainted body kit, lots of stickers for stuff you don't have and a legit ironing board for a wing. That will put you at about 500, so it may be a little too intense but still good. But yeah, full NA build (bolt ons and engine build) and you can see just over 300. F/I only for more than that. (Would never use nitrous personally so I say F/I only.)

 

For 400hp you dont need to spend 25k, I had that amount with a stock block and no issues, all I needed would have been a stage 3 tranny and it would have lasted a long time.

Now if you want more power in the future then yes 25k passes very quickly with all the supporting mods and being done right.

 

I'm boosted and agree that it won't cost near $25k to get to 400whp, particularly if you opt for a supercharger.

Well, Everyting is subjective here. A Vortec stage 2,exhaust and tune, <$10K maybe, but now you've got FI. There is a lot more to this calculus though. Defining what you really want out of your car. I had my engine built by Rubello Racing engines because now I can push the VQ without worrying that the weakest part of the engine, the rods and pistons won't be shooting through the hood.
My car is track ready and solid as can be, engineered with the dynamics of the entire car set as my priority. That's me though, yes it has been expensive for me. I do have an awesome daily driver with a HP/TQ potential that i haven't tapped yet. So look at your cash situation add 15% for "Just in Case" stuff, educate yourself here on the boards and bombs away...
The guys here that actually are running a FI motor can be your best resource.

I had a Vortech SC for over 31,000 miles and nothing ever happened to my block, I had the necc. supporting mods and if I remember the total came to around 10k and that includes exhaust, injectors, spacer, fuel return system, fuel pump, SC kit and oil cooler (AT), VB upgrade, Torque converter.....etc.

To the OP, it can be done

The only problem like everything else is that you will want more power

 

it can be done for 10k what happens if you save up your 10k your at your max. Now something let's go on the dyno, now what you park your broken car at home till you save another 6-7k to fix it? If you think it cost 10k you better have 15-20 set aside just in case. They all don't blow up but it can happen and it can happen fast, FI and small budgets don't go well together be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Trust me when I say it will cost at least 20% more than you plan for.

We just finished an STS Turbo kit on an 05 auto that made 381hp / 390tq at 7.9lbs on our Mustang Dyno. His build included STS kit, DW 600 injectors, TS E-Boost controller, three ProSport guages in A-pillar, custom catch can and Osiris custom dyno tune. His final ticket including install was just shy of 10K.
None of the turbo kits we have installed on a stock engine have ever had any problems since we don't push over 400rwhp.
