Sorry- Noob tuning question

At the moment my car is stock and I'm about to install a Borla catback, Fast Intentions HFC and a Motordyne 5/16" ISO plenum spacer. Every where I read on here that a tune after these mods will make a huge difference so I'm going to take that advice but I don't understand what I need.

I thought that I could just have the current system tuned as is but I keep reading every where about Uprev and Osiris and other tuning products. I was under the impression that I could just have my regular system tuned for best A/F ratio. Is this wrong? I don't want to spend the $500+ to get one of these on top of the $300+ I'm going to spend on the tune.

If someone could explain how this all works and what I actually need, that would be awesome.

If you get dyno tuned the Osiris license is 300 plus the dyno time. The dyno time can be as cheap as about 200. Mine was around 650 including the license if I remember. You could just buy the package from uprevs website that comes with etunes from Osiris for 500 but it's recommended to dyno tune as you'll get a better tune.

I got an uprev tune at a shop that spent four hours getting the perfect balance out of my motor. I have every bolt on and the difference was night and day. I ended up with 271/262 at the wheels with much better throttle response and great pull above 5k. Great use of 600.00 imho.

^ So you do HAVE to buy Revup or something similar? You can't just do a tune without purchasing aftermarket software?

Our ECU isn't "open" you have to use Uprev Software to tune the stock ECU. The license alone needed is $300 like others said. Check out their website Uprev.com for more info on the software.
