dyno question.

im getting a tune next week and had some questions i couldent find the answers to.

i have full bolt on's and im running very lean, so ive been keeping my rpm's as low as possible. and my question was for my baseline dyno pull, will the tunner push my car to 7k? will this damage my engine if he does that? i dont wanna insult him by asking him if it will or not.

thanks

Your ECU will pull timing if it senses a lean condition. With only bolt ons the ECU would be able to compensate enough to prevent damage if in fact you are lean, but with blot ons I doubt you are dangerously lean.

No tuner should ever take offense to any questions, even if it insult his/her intelligence. Just let them know that you never done this before and you have some questions. Don't forget to post the graph once you get her done!

ive been doing research and ive read some threads where guys are only running an mrev 2 and art pips and other form members are telling them they need to get a tune asap bc there running lean and to keep the rpm's down, and if there only running a few bolt ons i can only imagine how lean im running. again im just going off of the threads ive been reading, and i will post my graph up as soon as possible.

From my experience good tuners won't even do a base pull if they think you're running too lean, they'll make a few changes so that it runs a little better then do a "base run"... no one wants a car to blow up on their dyno

The problem with the Internet is most people have no idea what they are talking about. Most people with bolt ons don't have air/fuel gauges and have no way of knowing if they are lean or not. So they are guessing, if you are worried take it to a Dyno they will have an AFR sensor and can tell,if you are lean and if you are really worried get a wide band AFR gauge and know for sure.
