Unichip does not work on my car!!!

So, I finally took the car to Z Car Garage for a Unichip install and tuning on Dynojet.

They put the car on the dyno, open her up to plug the Unichip in... and the plug doesn't fit!

It turns out that there were few 5AT cars made for about 3 months in 2003 (i'm gonna go ahead and guess - a few hundred cars?) which use a non-standard ECU plug.

Guess what I have?... Yep, one of those cars.

Rob checked the VIN number, and sure enough.

MotherF..............CKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am pretty bummed out. Of course, it could be hard-wired... but then what's the point of a plug-and-play system, if it's hard-wired...

Igor,

Yeah, I was waiting on your Unichip results. I heard from Boris about your incident. I am sorry that the ECU in your car is non compliant to the Unichip . . . That blows, man.

Type 1? I have one also. Sucks for emanage harness hook ups too. You have to look to the 3.5 VQ maxima for a similar harness.

got this reply from Joe Pucciarelli of Unichip, surprisingly prompt:

All of our research indicates that the Unichip should work, but that does not mean Z car Garage is not correct. What we would need to verify is a digital photo of the ECU plug end and the Harness plug end.
man... now i got to pull out my ECU and take the pic...

I'd pull it for a pic, and then really hit them up to make you an adapter. They have pigtails made anyway. One custom job shouldn't be too bad, and it would make a world of difference to you. Good luck!

I think you can get a custom autosport wiring harness made. Contact www.forgedinternals and see if he can get it done. My guess is it would cost about $300.

I also blow 99% of the cars on the street. So far to date I have no loses.

Here's one from a few week ago. BTW, it's not the kit that blows the motor it is the installer/tuner.

codeflux,

I did win that race. I snapped the picture after the race was over. We started from a 2nd gear roll and by the time I was shifting into 4th I had about 10 cars on him. This was with VDC on because at the time I was having VDC issues due to wiring.....and yes VDC kicked on so I even had to left off the gas to get the VDC to disenage and I still managed to get 10 car lengths on him. LOL

*end highjack*
