Music Box Question: Search functions

Hi Guys,

On day 5 with the new car and i'm having issues with the music box. I've uploaded several tracks of cd's to the Music Box but when i go back to listen to it, if i select "Menu" at the bottom left corner of the screen, i only have the ability to "Search By ____" half the time. the other times it seems to lock out the search functions and only allow me to select the "play" features.

I looked on the forum for anyone else that might be having this issue and i read the manaul last night and still have not been able to find anything.

Anyone else experience this?

Is the car moving while you are trying this?

ha...this is such a murphy's law type of thing. as soon as i posted this, i had to run an errand, while i was stopped at a stoplight i was able to access the search features and as i moved they locked out. i thought to myself, "duh"

car in motion = no search features.

sorry guys

true, but you can still turn the Tune/Folder **** (or press and hold the steering wheel enter key fully up or fully down for one second) to scroll an artist at a time, or an album at a time...even while driving.

Yes, but regardless of people saying they are in some sort of order, I have yet to find anything close to order in mine. It takes forever and a whole lot more looking at the screen to find something than a simple search feature would have. They should have at least done a voice command search function.

Yeah i agree with this...i can see the logic (though flawed) by locking out the search functions but really all it does it cause you to have to search through a whole lot more to find what you are looking for and ultimately that takes your eyes off the road longer than if they had just left the search functions open.

maybe they'll correct that in the next firmware update...who knows...

No search is correct, but I would say when driving, they in fact ARE in order. They inherent the sort order based on whatever the last search order was.

If your last search (while not moving) was by Artist, then from that point on , the folders are in fact by Artist, ie turning the Folder **** will get the the next Artist. All teh A's, then the B's , then the C's etc.

If your last search (while not moving) was by Album, then from that point on , the folders are in fact by Album, ie turning the Folder **** will get the the next Album. All the A's, then the B's , then the C's etc.

So I just pick one and stick with it.

To go one step further... if you do search by album, and on that screen click sort and select artist then when you scroll through the albums using the **** they will be sorted by artist and album. Just be sure that after selecting the artist option in the album sort screen, you have to actually click on an album for it to save your setting. If you just click back at that point it will not save the album sorting selection.

I hope that makes sense...

See, I have read this and I have mine set to be the same pretty much all the time but trust me when I say that there is NO order to them. For instance, it will go through several "B"s and then skip to "G"s and then to "D"s. It drives me nuts that for whatever reason they aren't in a proper order either by artist or album title. I am open to the fact that mine is just nuts - it would certainly be the norm since nothing else really weird has happened with this car yet. LOL

This I need to try. I'm not 100% sure that I'm following what you said but I'll have to go downstairs and try it to see. I'll post back if I can't figure out what you mean. Thanks for the info. Now I wonder if I have some weird setting that is making mine spaz out.
