A-B-C pre-sets for radio,sat 18 total?

I programmed most of the pre-sets with XM stations thinking that XM, FM, each had 18 memory spots. This must not be true? When I push the FM button it still shown the XM stations on the right of the screen, but FM on the left as the source. Anyone understand my question or is it complete confusion? Thanks to anyone who might understand...........

No - not separate memory slots for each type... XM/FM & AM can all share the presets - so 18 TOTAL.

Yea I agree - 18 Total kinda blows
I mean XM/Sirius has 100+ channels alone - then theres your handful of FM's you'd want programmed and a few AM's for traffic/news/sports
18 is definitely not enough if you have SAT radio

I agree that 18 isn't enough. As a compromise, when my favorite stations are adjacent, I'll set only one of them in memory. To access the other I just hit scan once, or hold the control on the left side of the steering wheel for the same result.

I have about 6 preset for my FM channels, and the rest are XM, which still falls short of what I would prefer.

Actually, there are 24 presets. You have your 6 in A, 6 in B, and 6 in C. Now, if you press your "Radio" button while on A, B or C, it will shuffle from XM, to FM, to AM and you can "set" each to a different station with the tuner ****.

For example, my Preset A is 1=XM20, 2=XM30, 3=XM47, 4=XM65, 5=XM90, 6=XM94, now when I press "Radio", my FM station is 106.7 and my AM station is 1070. However, if i press the up or down button on the steering wheel, it will scroll through the regular presets.

Hope this makes sense.

a- all local radio stations
b- all sports from XM
c- news, comedy, weather from XM

How do you switch from A-B-C?

I can only use 6 presets.

You can either use the button marked "Preset A-B-C" on the head unit panel (it is to the right of the Off/On/Volume ****, or you can you voice command:

"Preset <A, B, or C>"

Hope this helps.

I agree that 18 isnt enough, altho I make due pretty nicely with it.

Preset A: FM: 6 Local FM Music Stations
Preset B: XM: 5 XM Music Stations + XM Comedy
Preset C: Info: 5 Local AM News Stations + XM 211 (NYC Traffic/Weather)

It would be nice to have a Preset D or even E.

My main issue is that I wish there was a preset-toggle switch on the steering wheel. Right now, I can use the "Source" button on the wheel to change A --> B or B --> C, but if I want to go back to Preset A, then I have to use the "Preset A-B-C" button on the dash since the "Source" button on the wheel will cycle through the CD, CF, MB, Changer, etc.

I was waiting for someone in my car and found the button for it. I feel so stupid.

I fear this is a stupid question, but how do you use the steering wheel controls to get to adjacent stations? I thought that the steering wheel control just flipped through the presets.

Thanks.

You're right, you can't.

Thanks. I got this to work perfectly for AM and FM.

However, XM appears to do something different. When I hold down the tuning switch, it changes to the next "bank" of XM stations. E.g., if I am on channel 100 (in the "World" section), it will skip all the way to 110, which is the first "classical" station. I can reproduce this behavior all the way through the XM lineup.

Is this the intended behavior in XM?
