New Cell Phone - New Phonebook?

Hello,

My wife recently ran my old cell phone through the wash

I happen to have a spare cell phone of the same model around and swapped sim cards and paired it with my car. However, now my entire phonebook in my car has disappeared. I thought the numbers were linked to the car not the phone. Anyone know a way to retrieve my old phone book?

You thought you were in fact saving them to your SIM card, when in reality, all your phone numbers were being stored to your phone. You have to go under each entry and save to SIM card, otherwise it will save it directly to your phone. What type of phone is it? BlackBerry?

The thing is though.. I had manual entered the numbers into the car system (my phone never supported auto download). Were they really stored on my phone somewhere or in my car? Either way, now they are gone.

What phone was it? I am not exactly sure what you mean by stored in your car? Are you sure they are lost?

Are you sure they are lost? You entered them manually, but did you save them to your SIM card?

each phone has a unique ID. when you pair your car to a phone and add phone numbers, you're adding them into the car's memory under the unique ID, not necessarily the 'type' of phone. this sucks, but you'll have to manually enter every entry into the car again...
