My boy just got done with the install, a lot of time and work. If anyone needs a install pm me. He has worked on many high end cars like land rovers and auston martins. Here are a few pics, still gotta finish the rear deck cover gotta think of something creative. For the sound it has good bass nothing heart pounding, but enough for the interior.

You used an 8", but you said a 10" would fit. The 2nd and 3rd pics have a mounting baffle that it looks like you designed. I'm assuming a wider opening on the mounting plate woudl be all that you needed in order to drop a 10" in there.

On the last picture I'm trying to figure out what you did. Were you able to simply put the carpeting over the amp and sub? Did you need extra fabric? If so, how do you keep the amp from getting too hot? What does thhe back deck look like now? Did you cut out a hole and put a grill over the sub?

Again, great mod. Any help on my questions will make my install so much easier.

 

Yea we jus used a piece of mdf board n cut it out pretty simple. For the trunk it is all the stock plastics, didnt have to do anything extra. For the amp getting hot i didnt do anything jus mounted it the upside of the amp to the rear deck so its not upside down, and the heatsink of the amp will let it cool off evenly. But since the amp 200 rms watt amp and the sub is 100rms amp but in free air use the subs rms wattage goes half because there is no pressure. So the amp right now is only turned up a quater of the way so it shouldnt really get hot at all. For the back deck i tried to go to the dealer n see if they sold the bose grill, but they only sell the grill n deck together that is like 250 bucks. So i am use going to use a 8inch mesh grill paint it the same color as the interior n mount it.

 

So it sounds like the amp will vent upwards through the rear deck, right? Does the covering of the sub impact its use as a free air speaker? It looks like you lost no trunk space at all, is that right? Were there any other holes in the back deck that you has to seal up? Are you experienceing any wave cancellation that you can detect? It's gonna be sweet when it's all done.

 

The dynamat sealed the whole rear deck. So there is no vents really going upwards, the only vent it has is on the trunks plastic theres a couple of holes on the bottom. For the upper rear deck i drilled like 3 1inch holes for temp to let some air out. The trunk space is just like stock. Theres a 2 big holes i jus covered with the dynamatt on the deck. Na i dont hear any wave cancellation, but i need to turn the amp up lil more, wait for the sub to break in.

 

Cool. Do you think the pass thru from the trunk is secure enough to not let waves pass into the cabin? Did you talk with your installer about possibly dynamatting the trunk?

 

yea its only a lil 8 in sub, dont need to dynamat the trunk, theres no rattling or enough pressure for 8 to rattle anything lol

 

Just as an update, I recently swapped out the factory speakers in the non-Bose for 6.5' coaxials in the rear and 6.5" 2-way components in the front. Running off the factory headunit is fine (without amp).

Although the cutout is for 10", the depth is pretty wimpy. I don't think you could easily put a real 8" 3-way system there without some heavy modification. In the rear, a Zenclosures spacer works perfectly. You need to make modifications if you want to retain the 6->10" plastic spacer.
