Hey Mike do you know of any I-pod integration kits for the 2008 G35?? The one which gives you control through the OEM head unit? I'm currently have the i-pod hooked up via the 3 aux inputs which doesn't give me any control or heads up display of what's playing

okay i have 08 g35S with "iphone" so im not sure about ipods but of course your car would not turn of your ipod when you turn off your car... that has to be done manually... sorry but umm duh!

whenever i get a call on my iphone even if i had the cd on the music automatically stops, but this is because i have the bluetooth phone feature on the car...

1 thing, when i unplug my iphone with the car still on the music keeps playing on my iphone and i must turn it off manually...

We are not talking about the car turning off the ipod, we are talking about the ipod turning itself off after a period on inactivity. The strange thing is that after reading this thread I tried the hold technique. Unlike what mike said I turned my hold button ON and pluged my ipod in. Now it will go into sleep mode when the car turns off. Go figure....

When the hold button is OFF, I turn off the car the ipod stays ON, continues to display the infiniti logo and drains the battery down.

The 'hold' thing does not work for me. My iPod is NOT on 'Hold' but gets drained overnight anyway (or it might take a couple of nights, but basically the iPod does not go to sleep I guess).

I've given up and just started manually turning the iPod off each night when I pull in.

From all these posts I think a consensus has been reached that the Infiniti/iPod interface leaves the iPod on without applying power to the iPod which results in a battery drain. This is very disturbing to anyone planning on using the iPod outside of the car, because you cannot depend on the iPod being fully charged. I have run into this problem when traveling for work. I take the iPod out of the car expecting to use it while in the air and end up with an iPod with no power. This seems like an abvious design flaw by Infiniti, the question is; does anyone know if the folks at Infiniti are aware of this drawback and if so, are they working to fix it in future models?

I tried to turn ON the hold, and now it goes to sleep when the car turns off. So it seems to be the opposite of what people are saying in this thread. I had always had it OFF hold and the ipod would stay on. I guess it all depends on what version ipod?

ive had the same problem as well...ive been told that another solution is to pause the song before you shut off of the car...this will hold the song position as well as turn off your iPod on idle

however i was never able to confirm the turning off because i always forget to check before turning the car back on

I too had this problem a few months ago when I first bought my G35. I even started a thread about it. I am no longer having this problem.

Back then I had a 2nd generation 8gb Nano. When I turned off the car, the Ipod would pause but it would never shut off. If I returned to the car before the battery died there would be no problem. If I didn't restart the car before the battery died then I was S.O.L. I tried turning the lock on the Ipod ON and tried OFF. Same result either way.

About a month ago I bought a 4gb 3rd generation Nano (the squatty one). Now everything works perfectly. When I turn off the car I think the Ipod is paused, but after a few minutes the Ipod shuts itself off.

In summary, I don't know what (car or Ipod or combination of the two) caused the problem with the first Ipod. I now have a 4GB Nano (3rd gen) that works fine in my 2008 G35x.

Good luck to you who still have problems. I understand the frustration.

Joe
