XM subscription discount with Best of Sirius? How many have traffic?
My 3 month trial just ended and even though I think XM sounds like a big bag of sauce, it's way better than FM. I called to set up service and was able to the the $77/year discount program without much of a fuss once I asked about it.
However, I was told that if I do the $77/yr subscription discount I am unable to get the 'Best of Sirius' package. Kinda sucks as I really miss the NFL stuff. She said you can't add Sirius b/c the $77 is a promotion and you can't add to it (although I could easily add traffic).
Anyone have any luck getting the Sirius channels with the $77 deal?
Also, how many of you have the traffic and how useful have you found it to be?
Thanks!
Jay

Hmmm, 36 views and no responses.
Let me ask a simpler question:
Has anyone that has gotten the $77/yr deal also been able to get the Best of Sirius added to that. And if so, what are you paying for the Sirius package?
Thanks!

There have been a few that have gotten the $77 deal and then added on the "Best of" for the normal $4 difference. If one CSR won't give it to you, call back until you get one that will. Sirius XM is hurting right now, so they aren't about to turn down money.
Traffic is subjective. Some love it....some hate it.

I was going to try that but thought I would have more pull if I agreed to sign up for the year.
Is there anyone out there who has actually gotten the $77/yr deal and the best of Sirius that would care to post?
Like all of you, it seems like no brainer but I'm curious why no one has stepped up to confirm this. Not the biggest deal in the world but I thought it would enhance the argument if I knew that this was possible for a fact.
Thanks again!

My three-month trial ended about a month ago and I had no problem getting the $77 a year deal just by asking for it. The lady on the phone did mention the Best of Sirius package for I think about $4 a month more, but none of the channels sounded interesting to me.
I was able to tack on traffic for $3.99 a month extra. I don't absolutely need this, but in the week before I signed up I used the info feature twice and though it would be nice to continue having it.
It's not rare that the traffic on the freeway will slow down and I'll wonder what's going on, is the problem close-by or far away, should I just wait a few minutes or should I get off the freeway and continue on surface streets. I used to switch to one of the AM news stations and have to wait up to 10 minutes for a traffic update, and sometimes they don't even mention the problem. Now that I have the G35 I can just go to Info > Traffic Info > Nearby... and it tells me what the problem is, how far ahead it is, shows it on the map. So, I though it was worth it.

Well, as an update, here's what I ended up doing.
After 4 calls to reps and managers (asking for a mgr to see if I could get around some of the concerns I got from reps) it was confirmed that I couldn't get the $77/yr + Sirius (although I could add traffic). I did have one mgr tell me that I could get the 77+Sirius but I needed a code to get it. I tried the 'zwinback' but was told that wouldn't work and I would end up getting charged later in the subscription for back charges. Hmmm.
The last rep I spoke with recommended I go to the retention department - even though I didn't have a subscription beyond my 3 month trial.
I ended up getting: XM+Sirius for 3 months for $29.97 and I added traffic for about $2/month added. So 3 months of XM, best of Sirius and traffic for about $36 total. About $12 a month. I was told that the important thing is that I call XM before the 3months is up to request the same deal for extension or it would expire. By my figures, this is about the exact same thing as the $77 plus the other two features.
I'm not exactly sure why it is such a big deal to just get this offer if it is out there for other people but at least I now have the NFL for the remainder of the season and I can revisit things in March.
The traffic isn't even useful in my area b/c the system doesn't come up this far but I drive in some areas on occassion that I can use it so for a few bucks year I feel it will be worth it. We'll see.
Happy Holidays everyone and thanks for your input!

Hope this helps someone.

I have a Sirius radio with my G35x 2007. Long expired account. I got the $77 package on mY Honda CRV. That's expiring now. Has anyone negotiated a package since the merger of XM - Sirius for 2 cars? and a Home receiver. I'm thinking of gettinga Home reciver or transportable receiver so that my sone can use it in a 3rd car. If I call XM without the knowledge, they'll treat me as Rube

.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

I have a lifetime Sirius subcription. I don't know what they charge now but I paid around $399.00 for it. I had a monthly and then decided to change to lifetime it's been so much cheaper.
Oh, and I was told that the 'lifetime' subscription is only transferable to 3 radios. So, although it is less expensive, it would only last for 3 vehicles if you lease often.
Just thought I'd mention that.
Also, as you are asking questions about other folks' success with discounts, etc. please report back so we can hear what you were able to do!!
Thanks and Happy New Year!

XM Radio & Sirius Combo Status: I was able to re-up on the XM radio for $77 one payment for annual service on the XM Radio in my CRV. My G35 has a Sirius radio (never signed up after the 3 month free trial). The reps at XM tell me that I can't get XM Radio on the Sirius Radio receiver in the G35, Not yet. Maybe coming by summer 09. I would have to take a deal on the Sirius radio separately, and then see if they "combine" the accounts down the road. I thought I would have been able to work that out now for a small add'l fee on the XM account. No Dice.....I "might" do the Sirius acount - basic package - only b/c I can't stand standard FM or AM radio. Right now, I'm only using the car for short communtes [job chnaged, used to travel 80-90 miles a day], so waiting to do this IS an Option.
Has anybody upgraded their stock radio to a HD Receiver?? My 2007 G35x did not come with an HD Radio. Dod the 2008s or 2009s.

Just had the strangest experience renewing my XM subscription. I was already on the $77 ZWINBACK plan so I was planning on an argument to get the same rate again for this year. when I called I told the rep I wanted the same rate and he told me "Let me see what I can do". I was prepared to have a lengthy discussion and talk with Customer Retention. when he came back on teh line he offered me $62.16/yr+tax. I have never had anyone offer a lower price than I was prepared to pay before like that. I confirmed numberous time sin teh call that this was the full annual fee and he confirmed. Strange, but it appears that you can get a lower rate than the $77.
