IPOD connection static

has anyone experienced static w/ the OEM ipod connection? initially i thought it was a bad mp3 file on my ipod- but now i realize its in the connection bc it just comes and goes randomly. i wonder if it has to do w/ how that wire has to be bent in order to fit in that armrest compartment w/ your ipod!

I've noticed the same problem. I don't think it's related to the connection. It's probably the fact that you have to turn up the volume to about 50% or more to reach a comfortable listening level. Search for a radio station with no broadcast and turn up the volume to 50%, you should hear the same static.

It's probably a grounding issue, take it to the dealer.

Update, my 3rd gen Ipod was acting up so I bought an I-Pod Touch. Now I seem to have none of the annoying static. The only think different is that the I-Pod touch does not charge when connecting to the car. So maybe the static is due to the charging during operation. Just a thought.

FYI- my problems went away when i turned off the EQ on the ipod and reduced the Ipod volume to 50% or lower

Crap. I've been listening to that static for a year and the fix was that simple.
