Completely dead battery?

Car was totally dead this morning after sitting for about 48 hours - the only thing is, I couldn't find a single reason or thing that would have caused the battery to drain. I checked every obvious point I could think of.

Ideas? Thoughts? Has this happened to anyone else?

Well it looks like I was searching in the wrong place and the OEM battery isn't that great. Guess I'll have to see if it holds the charge I gave it! Still, it's been totally fine for the last 2 months and I've never known a battery to go kaput just like that.

i had this happen to me 2 months ago and then just a few days ago except it was overnight. thought of everything that can drain the battery and got nothing. got the battery tested (same battery it came with from the factory) and it had bad cells. guy said it will hold a charge for a little bit if i wanted to take a chance of it dying again. i ended up buying a yellow top battery.

I think I'll go get it tested then - it's been OK for the last 2 days but given your story above I suspect it will fail shortly!

I would probably get another battery at this point... don't want to risk being stranded and all signs are pointing to it failing. Would stay away from OEM and get a service-free one.

Happened to me too. The G is sucking a lot of AMP on our battery, so when the battery became to fail, it dies very fast. Mine had to be replaced.
The battery test was showing a critically low CCA (Cold-Cranking Amperage) and wasn't holding a charge very long.

Many things can do this. Like others have said, charge it over night and have it load tested at a nearby autoparts house. If it's weak, replace with an Optima Red or Yellow top (34R). I have seen many things do this, a maladjusted brake light switch, a cabin light left on, a trunk light switch not adjusted, radio problems (known problem with G's), dirty battery conducting across the terminals (usually not a problem with G's as the compartment is closed). If it happens again, you will need to see what the static current draw is on you battery. It shouldn't be more than a few milliamps.
