Low Key Battery Lite

My dash indicator for a low battery in the key fob came on the other day, so I promptly popped a new battery into it. The indicator still comes on periodically. I treid running through the buttons a few times to let the car know I had a new battery but I still get the signal. Other than a dead new battery (which I haven't pursued yet), am I missing something?

Thanks...

Mike

hmmmm, could have sworn i've heard of this happening before...have you tried actually sticking the fob in the slot next to the steering wheel?

^that doesn't work.
Infiniti keys are not rechargeable like BMW.

Our keys seem to get bad after a while & suck the juice out of batteries after a few weeks.
I have one like that & the other is still good.

OP you may have bought batteries that were on the shelf too long.

I've had this issue for months now. The first time it happened last year, I immediately changed the battery. This time, I left it unchanged when the low battery indicator appeared, and eventually, it went away. A few weeks ago, the indicator came back on, but then dissapeared after about a week. This keeps happenining back and forth, but I've had 0 issues using the fob. My guess is that the car thinks the battery is low, but it's not.

^that's not always the case though.
With my bad one, it was definitely the fob.

not to recharge the battery but perhaps the receiver needs to be closer to the key to reset the battery life indication.

Mystery solved!! I put *another* new battery in my remote and the warning still came on. I was now even more exasperated. My wife said "Why don't you try your other remote? Where is it?" I thought for a minute, then told her it was in the package with the owners manual. "And where is that?" she asked. Oh, it's in the trunk.

Once I removed the other remote from the trunk.....surprise, the warning went away.

But that remote had been in the trunk for at least a year. Why have I always been able to lock the trunk?

Mike
