Cabin pressure equalizers, or rubber flaps in trunk rattling

Whatever these things are called... What is everyone doing about them when installing an aftermarket sub in the trunk? I heard the flappers rattling with the stock system at very low volume level with the bass set to 0 on the head unit this evening. I'm talking 3 bars of volume on the screen and the flappers could be heard rattling during low frequency parts of Basstronics' "Bass, I love You" from outside the car.
Is the best solution to seal them off, remove them altogether or what?
Just curious if anyone has noticed these things being annoying.

Yes, the pressure of you shutting the doors forces them open. You can hear them a split second after the door is shut.
