Been using my 80 gig ipod classic for almost a year on my 08 g. Lately it doesn't work right. When I go to 'ipod' I get no menu choices or playlist options. When I start the car, it starts on XM then goes to IPOD with no options. The ipod has the infiniti logo and says 'ok to disconnect'. When I unplug it and use it as a regular mp3 player, it works fine. I've even tried power-cycling it which didn't help. It seems to be charging the ipod, I just can't use it from the car controls anymore. Everything else, including music box is working fine.
Another weird quirk is if I start the ipod playing on its own, then plug in the ipod, it starts working, but I can't get to the playlists.
Has anyone run into anything like this or have any ideas? I'm going to borrow my wife's ipod nano and see if that works next. I'm just confused why this would stop working.

I can't say for sure on this type of car, but I have seen similar behavior on other cars and it turned out to be a bad cable, particularly where it plugged into the ipod. Don't know it that helps any, but I just thought I mention it.
I had a weird case with my ipod when i was given a loaner car from infiniti, it was an m35x and with my ipod plugged into that car it would randomly reboot itself, and then turn right back on. Never had an issue in my 08. kinda weird.
