Alternator whine

I recently upgraded my system with components, sub and a loc. I notice I now have alternator whine type noise but it's only on the AUX input. Radio, XM and cd player is noise free, but everytime I hook up my ipod I hear it. Not loud but loud enough to hear at low volumes. Any ideas what could be the cause?

Grounding is usually a suspect in those instances.

Wil check out. But it's strange this occured after the system install and never before. If anything you would think the whine would be present on al sources and not just the aux port.

found and old noise filter i had lying around, plugged it in right before the amp and did not make a damn bit of difference. I then did some checking only to find out they zip tied power cable with RCA cables and ran them together. Another head scratcher was running two 8 gauge power cables from each amp, as opposed to one 4 gauge cable and using a distribution block. So at this point the cause of the noise is either the power and rca cables ran with each other, or the LOC itself. Now i have to find an installer that does things the right way. I would take it back to this shop that did the install, but at this point I don't trust them to do anything more. Arghhhh
